Life in SleepyHallow was so much more different than the life Sage grew up in. The laws were strange and the ways of survival was wrong to her. There were no omegas in the pack, and those who showed weakness were either exiled or killed. There was always a uneasy feeling of hate towards Sage when she walked though the pack, like the wolves were plotting her murder or something. That didn't surprise her, this pack didn't seem used to outsiders. Now though, Sage found herself away from the pack and in a meadow soaking up the warmth of the suns early rays that morning, the rays reminding her of the power brewing within her. Now the thing about being in a new pack and having her powers was she was afraid to show them. If these wolves were so thirsty for power, what would they do to her? She knew though, she had to practice her flame if she wanted to overthrow Krater and get her home back. Until she was able to reclaim her home, Sage would have to adjust to this change.
"I take it you like your alone time, Sage?" Carter's voice washed over the ginger shewolf as she thought. Her eyes opened to look at the brute white male making his ways towards her. His eyes were a gentle blue and seemed soft as he stared at her, but a wall forced its way over Sage's emotions. Her eyes showed nothing.
"I'm adjusting, Alpha." Her voice was even, cold in a way as she looked at him. Her blue eyes were vague and emotionless.
"Come now, no need to be so cold to me. I offered you a home dear. I mean you no harm." He sat behind her, his ears pinning back in a show of relaxation. "Please tell me how you found us so I can help you further."
"With all due respect, I would like to keep my past to myself for now. I appreciate your hospitality but I would like to learn who to trust first." Her words shot out like webs of a spider, her eyes growing cold as her brows furrowed. She was getting a little unsettled. "All I will tell you, is my brother may show soon. I would like for him to be welcomed like I was."
"Of course, darling. And for such a young wolf, your very wise." Carter's lips spread in a genuine smile, his tail wagging a hint. Why was he so struck by her? Sage pushed it to the back of her mind. Maybe he was just curious of her story.
"I'm wise, because I was a fool." Sage moved away from him so her back no longer faced him. When she stood she found that even when he sat he was towering over her. Carter didn't speak further, only nodded. His eyes watched her tenderly, a hint of curiosity shining through his pale blue hues. Silence passed through them for a bit before he stood and walked away, his tail running against her flank. A shiver ran down Sage's spine before she turned to watch him go. She felt strange, like she should be easy with him but yet also suspicious. She had been here two days and it seemed this male was flirting with her. Shaking the feeling, Sage decided to find a place away from the camp to practice her powers but when she turned to head further away she felt her nose brush against the nose of the pale female who had stood beside Carter when she arrived. Sage had found her name to be Astrid. The female held an angered stance to her and her hackles were raised. Her eyes bore into Sage's as a snarl erupted from her.
"Don't even think about it, outsider. Mutts don't mate with alphas." She pulled away and started circling Sage. It was clear this female was infatuated with Carter.
"I don't want him, he is not for me." Sage followed Astrid, their eyes never leaving one another's.
"I don't know that. Your words are different from your actions. Maybe, if I teach you who's better, you'll stay away from my future mate." So, Astrid wanted alpha female. From the looks of it this golden pale shewolf would be a horrid alpha.
"Good for you. Take your place and leave me then, I am of no harm to you. I just want to live." Sage spoke softly, carful of her words so the female didn't provoke a fight.
"Whatever. Your not worth my energy in a fight, it'd be too easy a win for me." Astrid stopped and lifted her head in a show of confidence. Cocky bitch, the only way she'd win is if she fought a deer, even then Sage was sure she'd lose. Her confidence made her weak in the ginger shewolfs eyes.
"You say that Astrid but remember, I destroyed Aurora and she's supposed to be the beat warrior, yet I'm just a pup. You'd be a waste of my energy, now leave me be so I can practice to be a better wolf." Sage used her words to slice through the air, the shock in Astrid's face of Sage talking back was obvious. Clearly this princess wasn't used to be stood up against. With a scoff, the pale golden cream shewolf stormed off towards the camp, most likely to bat her eyes at Carter. Taking a deep breath to ease her anxiety, Sage started towards the river, her paws leaving soft imprints in the ground. The sound of the river only filled Sage with further sadness, the thought of her brother making her heart ache. Where could he be? Instead of stopping by the river, Sage found herself shaking her head and heading back to the camp, her tail swaying behind her. She really needed to be strong if she was to survive this packs bullshit. Her mother's words rang in her ears reminding her to be strong and how much she was loved, her paws now leading the way back to the camp. Carter was in the center, soaking in the sun with Gabe, Astrid was eating along side another female. Raven, her sister. The black and white female was nicer than her litter mate but was loyal to her elder sister big time. Blackrosey, who Sage found to be the packs delta, third in comment, was eating with the beta and his mate. Talon was a small but muscular male with dark eyes and an even darker fur color. He was all black, the only light color in him was his one right front paw with its soft brown. His mate, Millie, was a gentle soul and had a pelt to match. She was white with chestnut markings along her back. Her eyes were the same shade of green as the springs new leaves. Seeing as everyone Sage knew was busy, she sighed and simply headed back to her meadow, finding shade under a small tree. She laid down, her thoughts filling with memories of her lost family.
