Nova stayed hidden in the back of the cave, she knew the pack had been destroyed. No words seemed to find her as she tried to find a way out of the cave from the back before she was found by the rogues, but so far nothing. Voices could be heard growing closer, and she could feel fear in her throat. Nearby a soft whisper called to her, one so familiar. Turning towards it she lifted her nose to catch the scent, Saba's warm honey like smell filling her.
"Saba, you're alive!" Nova whispered as she moved closer to the older female. She felt the shewolf lick her ear before dragging Nova away by the scruff. Clearly she knew a way out. Nova felt a draft towards the edge of the back of the cave, a small hole giving way to the forest's energy. A small wagging of her tail let Saba know she was able to sense it before Saba started digging at the hole to make it bigger. Soon the hole was big enough for the two to squeeze through, and with Nova going first, they got out just in time for Nova to catch scent of Sage and Arrow making a run for it. With a deep huff, the black shewolf focused her energy and power to see through the eyes of the forest, her sight being gifted to her by a sitting bird. She watched Arrow dragging a sorrow filled Sage away from the area, deep into the forest and away from the territory. She couldn't believe it, they forgot her. Nova let a scoff escape her as her sight went back to its blackness, only able to use her scent and touch and hearing to move around. Saba could sense the anger seeping free from the female and she sighed softly before guiding her away from the area. However, rogues seemed to be moving about, scavenging through the cave to find what they could. They had to leave through the battle field. Saba guided the blind female wolf, they're steps quiet on the blood soaked grass. The stench of death made Nova's stomach feel queasy and she had to hold her breath to push through, but when she ran smack into Saba, she gasped in air to see the issue. The smell of her mother welcomed her, and she ran towards it, her tail raised high in excitement but what meet her when she got to her made her stop.
"Mom..?" Nova ran her nose over the white shewolfs fur, the sticky feeling of blood covering her muzzle. No, this couldn't be true. Nova focused her magic again and looked through the sight of a small bug nearby. Seeing herself hunched over the lifeless body of her mother, her heart stopped. Her mother's eyes were open inna look of pain, fresh tears still left forming at the edge of her green hues. Nova watched herself move to use her paw to close her mother's eyes, a sob leaving her. Saba moved closer now, standing beside the black shewolf. Pulling away from the sight she returned to her blind state and leaned on Saba's shoulder.
"I'm sorry Nova, she died so her pups wouldn't have to." Saba's wise words filled Nova with a slight hint of warmth but she still felt wrong. She felt alone. She sighed and lifted her head, her milky blue eyes looking deeply at Saba.
"We need to keep moving. They'll  come back to dispose of the bodies.." Nova spoke softly and felt the older shewolf nod. They continued forward just in time for two wolves to leave the trees to rid the land of the corpses. The white murderer himself and a grey and tan rogue. Saba and Nova moved through the forest quickly, trying to get away from the death of their home. They were heading north, while Sage and Arrow were heading south.
They traveled for what felt like hours before finally dropping near a lake in a meadow. The tall grass hid their bodies thankfully as they drank and Saba went off to hunt. Nova laid her front paws on the water and closed her eyes, a strong sense of power seemed to swirl in her chest. She focused on it, a familiar feeling of it within its core, and when she had gained control over the swirl energy, she opened her eyes, shocked she could see perfectly. The area she was in was strange, nothing like she had ever seen. Planets floated in the far off air, and stars seems to dance around her, the aura of the place felt like a safety zone and it was so familiar. Looking around, she walked forward not knowing what this place was and where her power had taken her too. How could she see it? She kept walking until she reached a large willow, underneath it was her mother. It couldn't be, was she in the realm of the dead?
Nova picked up the pace and ran over to her mother, looking over the white shewolf for wounds but found nothing.
"Darling, I'm alright." Artemis spoke like wind, her voice airy and celestial like with the echo it created around the area.
"I saw your dead body! How is this possible, where am I?" Nova nuzzled you to her mother, her face burying in the white shewolfs chest fur.
"You are in the spirit world, my dear. You power is stronger than you know. Not only are you able to walk amongst the dead, but you are my little dream walker. A sight finder, and the shadows of the living. As you grow older, Nova, you will find you are so much more than you thought." Artemis smiles down at her youngest pup, giving the female licks of affection. Shortly after speaking, her image and the place Nova was visiting was growing blurry, the sight gifted to her fading.
"Wait! Will I ever see you again?" Her voice was frantic to get an answer before her mother faded away forever.
"Nova, you can see me whenever you like. Just think of me in your sleep, and you will walk with the dead." The last thing Nova saw before she woke was her mother walking away, towards the black form of a familiar male. Her father. Nova smiled, her mother and father were together at least.
