Adam wiped the tears that were running down Bellas chin. She chuckled in embarrassment and tried hiding her face from Adam who was sitting in front of her. He had taken her to the café near their hiding place because Bella wanted to be out of the house. She hadn't told Adam about how she heard Lorenzos conversation with a girl named Lina. She was probably the same girl who had left those hickeys on his neck, she thought to herself as she recalled how he had spoken softly to her. just like he had done with her before. He had mentioned her staying at the mansion and the thought of another woman staying in that house with him made her cry even more. Did she renovate the mansion to her liking? Did she also complain about Lorenzo having too dark colors? And more importantly, did Lorenzo let her? The questions were running through her head and then she thought about how he had smiled on the phone. He hadn't smiled to her once since he had seen her and all it took was one phone call to Lina and now, he was cheesing.

Another sob escaped her lips and this time, Adam switched his seat and sat beside her. he pulled her to his chest and kissed the top of her head. He knew that something was horribly wrong but didn't know what. He expected it had something to do with Lorenzo killing the Chinese man in the living room. She was probably terrified, he thought to himself and decided to use this moment to his advantage. If there was a time where he could express his true feelings to Bella, now was the chance. He had waited long enough to tell her how hopelessly he cared for her and seeing Lorenzo made him quicken his phase.

"Shhhh princess, it's okay" he soothed her, caressing his hand through her hair. Bella started calming down in his embrace since she was too tired from all the crying. Adam pushed away her hair from her face and wiped the tears away. Bella opened her ocean like eyes to look at a worried Adam who was watching her with furrowed eyebrows. She tried smiling to reassure him that she was fine, but he wasn't having it. "Don't even try that smiling shit on me Bella. I won't fall for it" he told her seriously and handed her the muffin he had brought for her. Bella sniffled and took a bite of the muffin. Adam looked at her in awe but looked away quickly when Bella caught him staring.

"I just needed to cry Adam. It has been a lot to see him, you know?" she began with a firm voice and ended in a whisper. Adam nodded her way, while taking a sip of the coffee he had ordered. He scratched his neck and looked outside the window when he felt Bella looking at him closely.

"He broke your heart" Adam concluded the information he had gathered from between the crying, stuttering and sobbing.

Bella nodded her head and looked away, not wanting to cry again. She bit her lip harshly to trap in the sob, but Adams fingers tugged at her lips to stop her from biting her lip. Bella shivered at the unfamiliar touch and scooted away, but Adam held her in her place.

"You can cry in front of me, princess. I won't hurt you like him" he whispered to her and held on to her chin, lifting it up so she could look in his caramel brown eyes that were a lot lighter than Lorenzos brown eyes. They had specks of honey in them, as if it was added solely to comfort Bella that Adam was still sweet, despite his unusual behavior.

"I broke him too Adam. I can't blame him for everything" Bella whispered back, looking down to avoid eye contact. Adam furrowed his brows at that, not understanding her statement; "How? Because you didn't tell him about yourself? You were just protecting yourself Bella and you were right. Have you thought about what would have happened if he knew about you from the start Isabella? He would have used you as bait for Khalid and then what? You would have ended up as every other woman in that newspaper" Adam exclaimed loudly, gripping her chin a tad bit tighter.

"Adam, no. He wouldn't do that to me" Bella whispered back, not knowing where that was coming from. Oddly enough she was finding sense in what Adam was saying and that scared her the most.
