Chapter 8: Creepy Night

It's not just the noises this time. It's also my mother.

Well, that was weird. I'm not sure if I misheard or not, but whatever. I guess I have a possessed mother now. I head upstairs to my room.

"Ding" My phone buzzes. I look down to my phone and see a text from Ethan.

"Heyo! Just want to know if you've decided on an answer yet."

Oh, no. I forgot about it. But I have to text back. I don't want to be in a relationship yet. I look at my phone and say my answer.

"Hey, I haven't decided yet but maybe we can take things slow?"

"So, is that a yes?"

"Indeed it is!" I smile as I hit send.

"Crash," A noise came from downstairs.

"Oh my god, now what is it." I rolled my eyes as I headed downstairs. I find another trail, but this time it was cat fur, instead of blood. Following the trail, I end up in the kitchen. The trail seemed to have been leading outside. I grab a knife and head out the door. I continue to follow the trail when it suddenly stops. All of a sudden, I begin to hear another noise, but this one was a cat noise.

"Mr. Snuggles, I swear!" I yell, "If you're trying to break in one more ti-" I find Mr. Snuggles hanging on a tree branch,"

"Gosh, you can't even climb a tree properly,"

"Meow," He replies. I roll my eyes as I help him out. I notice that his leg got grazed while hanging, so I bring him back to the kitchen. As I walk in, I find mom resting on the couch in such attire I never knew she owned. Mom was wearing a purple, bodycon dress with black lace at the bottom. Her hair was all tied up into a braided crown with some petals on top. She was dozed off on the couch with her heels on. Hmm, I wonder where she was going? I continue to help Mr. Snuggles then send him back to Henry's. I go back inside to find mom gone. Where'd she go now? I look around and find a note on the floor.

"Going on a date. Will be back late. You know why ;) Love mom. <3" The note said.

"Gross," I say out loud. I look outside, it was already night. "Oops, I forgot about dinner!" I say as I grabbed a quick snack. I walk around the house, thinking of what I should do about the door when I suddenly realize that mom's not home. Looking at my phone, I decided to call Henry to see if he wanted to come over, but he said no. Being bored isn't fun, so I decided to maybe try to unlock the door.

This lock was one of those that only work with keys. So if I want to unlock it, I'll have to destroy the lock. I search around for something to break the lock with and find a hammer beside a framed photo. I walk towards it and notice that the frame had a photo of me and some girl who's very special to me. Standing there, I take a moment before grabbing the hammer, then back to the door. Gripping onto my hammer as tight as possible, I hit the lock off the door and into the kitchen. "Damn I'm strong." I continue to hold my hammer and hold it close as I walk into the room. The door leads to a strange hallway. This room had no lights nor did it have a single ray of light. There were more doors within that room. Five more, to be exact. I walk down the hall with my hammer. There seemed to be a staircase at the end. The stairs spiralled down to the basement. I get ready to take a step down when I feel a tug on my hair and start to get some chills from my back. I began to turn when suddenly a gloved hand comes around my mouth. The hand had held a napkin with some chemical in it. I know because for the next few seconds, I remember screaming into it until I passed out.
