As the world of our time fears the arrival of threats beyond our advancements, some took to the ancient texts of magic, learning its endless amount of power in the process.

There have been many who have channeled this ethereal style of combat over a dozen millennia.
During this time, humanity has seen the many ways it has been used.

During the time of the Continental Union (50,000 years before Knights I) when all 5 continents were merged into one, it was said that the Staff of Thanatos, named after a former ruler housed every source of magic in the Universe.

It contained the powers of each elemental except for Solara, the divine creator of the universe itself.

Prior to the forging of the Staff, it was said that magicians channeled their energy and powers through the utilization of crystals or verbal incantations.

In order to retrieve Her magic, one must make a daring trip to Nirvalla, otherwise known as the Celestial Realm and risk everything to be the most powerful magician known to humanity.

Her light is dubbed the Aetherforce, which is an ethereal ability that grants extreme omnipotence, immeasurable superhuman strength, and it allows the user to channel Solara's light at their own will.

Only a few have been successful in holding such power, as the Aetherforce can produce intense heat that can reach a temperature of over 5000 blue stars (+300,000,000°F) which instantly disintegrates anything that touches it.

Not even the most boundless of magicians could hold it.

To help them channel this, Solara bestows upon the user a blade known as the Lightbreaker, a virtually indestructible weapon capable of annihilating massive armies with a single blow.

It is also said to house a sentient voice within, but it is unknown if it's true.

The only known individuals who have possessed the light of Solara, let alone the Aetherforce prior to the second Netherrealm invasion were members of the Kernius bloodline, including Kernius VIII.

Sir Hira was able to hold the Aetherforce for a brief moment at one point in time, but it took a massive toll on his physical body at a price.

Despite all of what it can do, if the Staff were to be broken in anyway, the only way to utilize magic would be through utilizing crystals or coming across an artificact known as the Rubikron, a Rubik's cube-like weapon that can utilize the power of every elemental deity and houses the knowledge and whereabouts of every magician, both living and dead.

Without the Staff, the power of the Lightbreaker is crippled and is capable of being destroyed.

Magic Grades: in recent times, the power of a magician may vary depending on the limits that one has broken, and the ability to use more than one field of magic. To help track the power of a person's magic, a chart was created to measure the amount of power an individual can achieve under the art of magic.

This rubric dictates what determines a person's magic grade and what they could be able to do:

Grade X(God-Level): Individual shows extreme ability to channel powerful magical abilities and defenses, has capability to achieve the Aetherforce and possibly channel that energy as well.

Grade A(Astral/Near-God-Level)- Individual shows high knowledge of Elemental combat and is able to channel their powers at will.

Grade B(Warlock-Level): Individual shows knowledge of Elemental combat and has broken several boundaries, mental and physical in order to achieve such potential

Grade C: Individual shows a small increase of their magic level as they begin to test their limits, they show small knowledge of Elemental combat

Grade D: Individual's main starting point during their first days as a magician, they show no signs of any broken boundaries, let alone ability to channel Elemental energy. Magic is more so fundamental.
