Tracy's POV
I walked over to my dorm. When I stepped inside the hallway I heard a loud clicking noise. Austin was banging on Skylar's door.
"Austin? What are you doing?"
"Oh, uh, Skylar borrowed a book on me and hasn't returned it," He seemed embarrassed, his face turning red.
"Oh. What's that loud beeping?"
"Alarm spell. I think. Couldn't diffuse it so I pretty much have up,"
"Are you sure she's in there?"
"She said she was heading there a few hours ago," He knocked on the door again "Uh, she hasn't answered in the fifteen minutes I've been standing here,"
I sighed "Why don't you turn into mist and glide under the door?"
"I don't want to invade her privacy," He remarked, offended. I threw my hands up.
"Sorry, sorry," I said "But seriously if she's not answering, she probably wants privacy,"
"It's an important book,"
"Was it that memory book you had?" He blushed harder and turned away, walking back down the hallway, which confirmed that it was the book. Eh, I owed him a favour anyway. Since Skylar would probably not want to see me either, so I instead cast an invisibility spell over myself and waited.

I woke up abruptly when the door opened. Skylar quickly slipped out and I barely had enough time to stand and slip in.
Surprisingly I've never seen the inside of her room before. It looked nice. weapons hung on the walls around the room and on her desk, there were notes and homework and books. I noticed a small, leather book with small notes sticking out of it. Seemed important, and since I was curious I carefully grabbed it, knowing I could always come back and replace it. I walked over to her bookshelf and searched the spines. None of them said anything besides the textbooks so I began pulling them out to look. Random novels, more random novels, a book series, more random novels. After twenty minutes of searching, I heard the door start to creak open. I quickly applied an invisibility spell to myself and darted into the corner.
Skylar walked in and she almost immediately seemed to detect that something was wrong. She frowned, walking around her room. I held my breath as she drew closer. Fuck she was right in my face.
There was a sudden clatter of books as an entire row fell down to the floor. Skylar jumped in surprise and looked back at them. Evidently, I had misplaced a couple and they somehow caused the books to fall. Skylar sighed and waved her hand. The books flew upwards and quickly reorganized into their previous organized state. She walked over to her bed and fell down into it.
I waited a few minutes before I made my next move. Making sure the spell was still active, I moved over to the bookshelf and slowly removed them one by one to check. I found Austin's memory book a few minutes and stressful moments later. I slowly moved to the door and creaked it open. All of a sudden, the alarm spell burst out in its familiar crackling chorus. I jumped back in surprise, letting the book drop to the floor and flinging the door closed with a loud bang. Skylar immediately snapped up, her eyes scanning the room. She stopped when her gaze fell on the book.
"You can stop hiding now, I know your here," I froze yet didn't lift the spell. Skylar growled quietly and lifted her hand.
"I'll give you three seconds. One, two," I rearranged my bearings and grabbed the book and sprinted. She chased after me, following the floating book down the hallway and out of the dorm. I ran out of the dorms and slipped on the ground, falling onto the wet grass and losing grip of the book. It slid over the grass and stopped at the base of a tree. Skylar ran out after me but stopped a few feet from the doorway. She squinted into the darkness, then suddenly cast a light spell. I lay as still as possible. She didn't seem to see me but stood there, gazing into the lit-up area. Minutes passed as I waited anxiously. Eventually, she shrugged and gave up, retreating back into her dorm. I sighed in relief and walked into my dorm as well.
Flinging Austin's memory book under the bed, I sat at my desk and flipped open the smaller one.
A bunch of notes and runes scribbled all over the place. It looked like a bunch of spells and powers. Huh, cool. Apparently, Skylar, like basically everyone else still couldn't use a time spell yet. I got so focused on reading that I eventually fell asleep.
The next morning, I woke up in a pool of my own spit that drooled onto the table. A frightening sight suddenly hit me as I realized some of the drool had leaked onto Skylar's book, wetting the pages. Crap! I couldn't perform a drying spell yet, I always ended up accidentally burning whatever I'm trying to dry. Maybe Austin could do it?
I picked up the book and quickly ran to the breakfast hall. I spotted Austin and hurried over to him, knocking a couple of students out of the way as I did.

Austins POV

"Austin!" I looked up and saw Tracy running full throttle at me. She flung an incredibly wet book in front of me "Can you dry this? Please tell me you can?"

"What? Why? Of course, I can dry it,"

"Please do it, please. Like right now,"

"Uh, can I ask why first?"

"Please, just do it,"

I shrugged "Alright then," I quickly performed the somewhat complex fire spell and soon the book was dry as ever.

"Thanks!" She exclaimed, suddenly throwing a hard hug around me.

"Y-your welcome?" I half asked as she ran off.

"What was that about?" Kevin asked, sitting in front of me. We had become cool with the fact that Tracy used to harbour an enormous crush for me and we actually became friends.

"I...I don't honestly know," I returned to eating my cereal.

Skylars POV

I woke up in a light haze, both because I didn't get any good sleep last night and because the sun was shining in my eyes as I woke up. Someone had stolen my power book, where I record all the powers I discover and the spells I learn. Also, Austin's memory book but that was slightly less important. The first place to check was probably with Austin. If anyone, he was probably the one who snuck into my room. I walked out of my dorm and immediately collided with a very fast-moving Tracy. We both fell to the ground as we hit each other, the small book she was carrying flying off and hitting the wall. When she saw me she immediately blushed and I felt a surge of anger.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, in a deadly silent tone. She laughed nervously and scrambled up, offering a hand to me. I didn't take it, instead of standing up and walking away in the opposite direction.

I spotted Austin sitting with Bell and Kevin. I walked over to him and sat down.
"Hey, Skylar,"

"Austin,"

"Uh, yes?"

"Did you," I controlled my breathing "Or did you not, break into my room last night,"

He looked surprised "What? Of course, I didn't. Although I did knock for like ten minutes and you wouldn't respond,"

"Someone took two of my books last night. I think that someone was you,"

"What? Why would I take a book from your dorm? Unless it's my memory book I have no interest in whatever books are on your bookshelf unless its Cloudy Sail #345," I inhaled deeply again, not wanting to put up with any more of Austin's bullshit.

"I know you swiped it from my room. That was one of the two books that were missing that was YOUR memory book. The other was my Power book,"

"Power....book? What power book?"

"Stop playing dumb with me," I growled.

"I'm not playing dumb with you! The only person who's dumb is you! I didn't steal it!" At this point in time, we both had stood up. Despite almost all the teacher's eyes on us, we still reached for our weapons. My hands dragged across my daggers and Austins rested on his sword hilt.

"I did not steal your damn book," Austin snapped.

"Well, who was in my room last night?" I asked

"I don't know, it could have been Ayom for all I care!"

We were about to clash weapons when Tracy, who apparently overheard the conversation ran in.

"I was the one who stole your book!"
