Skylar's POV
I walked down a staircase to Professor Mcknealy's office. Torches dimly lit the passage. For some reason, he liked the air of the subterranean tunnels.I knocked on the door and he said "Come in" I opened the rusty door and peered inside. I've never been in his office, so I didn't really know what I was expecting. Animal parts hung across the wall, jars held what looked like dung, and a large roaring fireplace was set behind a scratched wooden desk. "Ah, your here for detention" His face twisted into a smile "I was going to make you scrub out the animal dens, but I've found another...job for you." He walked over to the dung jar, and looked at it proudly "Sadly, Loke has also been put in detention. He has been already sent to wait outside the room, I expect, for your detention. Follow me, I shall take you" He brushed by me, and I quickly followed, my head down. We walked back up the stairs, through a maze of hallways, and up two flights of stairs. Just as I was wondering how much further we had to go, Mcknealy stopped. "This is your detention room. I expect you to follow his orders and be as helpful as you possibly can. Wait outside. He shall call for you when ready." Mcknealy walked off, and I waited beside Loke, who was throwing glares in my direction. A few minutes passed, until there was a fumbling with the knob and the door swung open. "Come in" A voice called "and please don't bump into anything" it was Austin. Well, at least whatever he's got is better than scrubbing a Grimpocks piss off a wall. Me and Loke walked inside. There was a complicated assortment of machinery, seemingly hooked up to one single control panel overlooking a plain testing chamber. "Great your here" He muttered, not looking up. A couple seconds passed until he did, and he said "Okay, so I've already been informed. You'll be helping me test spacesuits" "Um, why?" Loke asked "Because to build the miracle machine, we need certain crystals. Which only happen to grow on Vhad. You know, the planet closest to ours. We need space suits to resist temperatures below -175°, and to resist no air. The planet has a incredibly weak gravitational pull allowing you to be able to move like a feather. Now, please head in there and put on the suits." He unlocked the door leading to the chamber, and I walked in. I turned back, and was surprised to see Loke still standing there. "Well?" Austin asked "Aren't you going?" "W-well" He stuttered "what if something goes wrong?" "Nothing will. We tested the vacuum sealers, and their perfectly functional" Loke reluctantly stepped in, and we put on the suits.
I felt like nenety five pounds was dropped on me at once. "Don't worry" Austin's voice called through the radio "It'll feel lighter in space. Anyway, dropping temperature and pressure. Remember to adjust the hearing appurus" I noticed a blue and red knob, and turned it towards the red when I felt a chilly breeze. "Now, try moving aruond." I took a step, surrised to find that I clud move around easily. "Okay. Now, try firing a spell" "Wat?! With this hunk of junk?!" I fired off a spell easily as Loke was ranting. It passed easily through the suit. "Okay. Test complete. Now, dont move Im turning it to normal" SUddenly, Loke began twitching. "What is it?" I asked "M-MIce!" He said "In my suit!" I felt the room return to normal, and I took off my helmet. AUstin came in, and took off Lokes. Mice crawled out. "oops. I forgot to take them out" He did air quots during the forgot behind his back "But tat little incidents behind us. Now follow me once your suits are off..." We took them off, and crawled out. "Okay, you can leave now, tests are complete." Loke quickly left, btu I observed a machine, about the size of a furnace, with blinking buttons and a large meter. "Dont touch that" Austin said, without looking up. I looked at him, and asked "Why do you need our help?" "Because you just so happen to have detention, might as well have yoy helping" I felt a uncertainty in his voice "DId you ask for us?" "N-no" He said, blushing "Of course not" "You did. Why?" He sighed, and said, wheeling around to face me "I honestly have no clue. I just felt compelled to." I took a step closer. "DId you just ask if I was availiable?" "N-n-no!" "Your lying" "Fine" He threw his hands in the air "I was asking Proffessor Gordan, but Mcknealy overheard. Okay?" "Why did you ask?" "I felt compelled" "THats not true" Austin sighed, and said "Im not kidding" "I can read your mind" He sighed, and said "Just...please leave me." I left, but secetly cast a invisibility spell over myself and cautiosuly entered the room.

Austin had a book out, and was flipping through the pages. I looked over his shoulder, and I almost both barfed and jumped back in shock. Inside, there were several photographs of younger us together, playing hopskotch, reading, playing. Suddenly, he turned to a page with a note. I cuoldnt remember any of this, since Ayom erased any memory of any life related to AUstin. Almost, besides burning the village. A heart shaped note. Austin picked it up, and read it a couple times. I moved closer to see, and almost barfed again realising it was from younger me. TO him. I barely surpresssed gagging. He put it down again, closed the book, and rested his head gently on the cover. He began crying silently. I glanced at the clock, and realised it was 12:00 AM. Why was I here at 12:00 AM?! I should have been asleep! I moved closer, and Austin suddenly perked up. He looked around, then quickly shoved the book into his bag and left the room. I barely got out before he shut and locked it.
