???'s POV
I walked, silently down the hallways, my hood obscuring my face. I reached out with a talon shaped glove and knocked on a nicely decorated door. No one answered. Despite this, I walked on inside anyway.
"What is it?" A beak-nosed man demanded, seated at the desk. Good old Arbacus.
"We might have a problem," I say, pulling out a small cube from under my robes. it floated in the air and one side opened up, spilling out orbs of light. They settled on the floor and formed grisly shapes of corpses.
"I wasn't able to dispose of the bodies, and we cant sell these to the people down at the black market...I think?"
Arbacus waved a hand at me.
"Leave them, Ill feed them to the Ragnocks. Now go. I have important matters to attend to," I nodded and left.Austin's POV
I walked back and forth, nervously in my room. Was Bell okay? It had been a couple of hours since they left, and I had been biting at my nails so much I was practically biting at the skin of my finger. Kevin sat on my bed, in a somewhat relaxed position while I walked back and forth, listing out everything that could possibly go wrong.
"What if they get captured?" I pondered out loud "Or worse, killed?"
"Austin, stop. Your overthinking things. Put a little faith in them,"
"I DO have complete faith in them, but cant I still worry?" I asked
"You don't seem to have "complete faith"," Kevin replied. I was about to argue back when there was a sudden tingle in the back of my mind. I closed my eyes and heard Bells voice.
"Austin!" She yelled mentally "Help! They caught us!"
My eyes shot open.
"Kevin, they got captured," I shouted, panicked. He stood up abruptly from the bed
"What?? How do you know??"
"Bell sent me a mind message," I snatched my sword and rifle from my desk "We need to go rescue them,"
"Austin, that's crazy!" Kevin said, "We don't even have disguises!"
I paused for a moment.
"We can sneak in and grab some," I said "Look its either we go or all of Arlium will invade, or...,"
"Fine," He said "I'll meet you by the shack,"Crawling through the dirt tunnel and through the portal, we carefully assessed our surroundings. There was a dormitory near us, luckily, so I cast an invisibility spell and we snuck forward. Kevin boosted me up and I peered through the window.
"See anything?" He asked.
"No," I whispered back, "I think we're in the clear,"
I unlocked the window with magic and climbed in, helping Kevin in as well. The room was dark, luckily.
"I'll check the closet, you stay on guard in case anyone is coming," Kevin whispered. I nodded. There was light under the door and sounds of footsteps. I hoped that the owner of the room wasn't returning soon.
"Yo, I found some uniforms," He held them up "They look our size,"
"They might be YOUR size you hunk of muscle," I replied, playfully punching his arm "Im a twig,"
We put them on and indeed mine felt a little loose, but Kevin said it looked fine. We snuck back out the window and I raised the invisibility spell.
"Right, where should we go? Where are they?" Kevin asked.
"Ill try to ask them," I closed my eyes, thought of Bell and mentally sent a message.
'Where are you?'
It took a few minutes for her to respond
'In a closet near the astrology classroom'
"Follow me," I whispered. Hopping onto the path, we somehow perfectly blended in with the small crowd of Arlium students.
"Their in a closet near the astronomy classrooms," I muttered "You go ahead, I need to check something out,"
Kevin nodded and continued forward. I patrolled the outside of the castle, scanning the walls. Tall, stone, baisicly like hours albeit different colour schemes. The grass was even greener than our school. There was a large and proud drawbridge which was pulled up, probably to keep enemies out and possibly students in. I suddenly walked into something hard and fell back, feeling whatever it was collide with my head. I looked up and it was another Arlium student, with red and yellow hair. I stared at her for a second.
"Sorry!" She said, reaching down to pick up the scrolls she dropped.
"U-uh, sorry it's my mistake. I should have been watching where I was going," I kneeled to help her.
"Say, I don't think I've ever seen you around before," She looked closely at me. I was hit with a combination of fear and worriness, that she'd know who I really was and her opinion of how I looked. Wait, why am I worrying? I already have a girlfriend. I shouldn't be trying to impress another girl.
Should I?
"I, uh,"
"Well it makes sense, there are tons of us around here," She said, extending her hand to me "I'm Samantha Stokes,"
I shook it "Austin,"
"Hey, wanna help me with a spell?" She asked.
"Uh, sure?" I asked, "What type of spell?"
"cmon, follow me," She grabbed me by the wrist and yanked me into Arlium, through its large marble chambers and hallways and led me into an empty classroom.
"What kind of spell is this?" I asked again
"Its a kind of relaxation spell," She replied, setting up several instruments "Give me your arm,"
"What?"
"Give me your arm, I need to see how well the spell would work,"
I gave her my right and she immediately began attaching wires with tape on the ends.
"Just hold still, thist'll be over before you know it," She took a deep breath and cast it. A wave of sudden bliss, calmness and comfortableness washed over me startlingly, though I wasn't complaining. I closed my eyes and felt the sensation. I had never felt anything like it before. Unfortunately, as Samantha had said, it was over in a moment.
"Whoa!" She yelped in delight, looking at the screens "Look at all this data coming in!"
I looked over at her "That's, uh, nice?"
"That's better than nice! I've actually been looking for someone to help me for weeks, but I couldn't find anyone who would be a good match until I bumped into you,"
"Literally," I added. She chuckled
"Want to see?" She asked
"Sure," I walked over and she moved so I could see.
"So this spell baisicly acts as high levels of dopamine, without releasing dopamine?"
"Yes! This would be perfect for spas and relaxation!" She cheered and grabbed me into a bone-crushing hug.
"Y-yeah," I cheered, quieter due to my lungs being compressed. She let go of me.
"Do you want to meet me here tomorrow to continue testing?" She asked "Its completely up to you, I don't wanna force you to come when you could be sleeping,"
"I, uh, I guess I'll come,"
"Oh great!" She said "This rooms 145. Around the same time, okay?"
I nodded, grinning "Alright. See you,"Kevins POV
I ran up the staircase toward the astronomy classroom. I had waited for Austin long enough. But upon running past a door I painfully discovered that it was the closet he was talking about. A yank and a blow to the back of my head rendered me unconscious. When I awoke, I was tied to a chair. Skylar and the girl Austin had spoken to.
"First Tracy and Bell, and now you!" Skylar exclaimed "Honestly I'm thinking Lonerth is full of idiots,"
"That's why we're on this side," The girl said, raising a blade to my chest "Now, you'll be a good little boy and tell us if there's any more of your friends here, and maybe the location of Lonerth,"
I stared at her for a second
"No,"
"Yes you will," She pressed the blade harder against my skin
"No," I repeated
"YOU WILL!" She screamed, punching me square in the face, throwing my head back and almost causing whiplash
"Sia!" Skylar grabbed the girl by the shoulder "This isn't getting us anywhere," SHe plucked the blade out of her hand and walked over to Tracy, who was also tied to a chair.
"We'll have to go after something else that hurts,"
"And you say your the good guys," I muttered
"Tell us where Austin and Lonerth are, and we'll leave her alone," Skylar said
"No," I said yet again
"Well then," Skylar put the knife to Tracy's throat. I gulped.
"You wouldn't," Skylar smirked
"Would I?" She pressed the blade so hard it caused little red beads of blood to form and coaxing a whimper from Tracy.
"Now, you will te-" Skylar was repeating the question when all of a sudden the door burst open. Sia was quick to react but not fast enough, finding herself at gunpoint in mere seconds.
"Hold it right there criminal scum!" Austin demanded. Sia didn't move, she stood with her blades out looking down Austin's barrel. Skylar made a motion to attack but Austin pushed his finger against the trigger.
"Do you really think that's smart?" he asked, in a menacing tone "Now, you both will free the three people you have captured and let us walk out of here safely. No one will get hurt otherwise,"
"Believe me, someones gonna get hurt," Skylar said, pulling gloves on "Wraith,"
Austin's eyes widened just before a bolt of lightning hits him square in the chest. he falls back, his bullet ritchoeing off the wall. It barely missed Sia, who moved out of the way just in time.
"Shit..." He staggered to his feet before pulling gloves of his own on "Fucking Storm..."
He evaded Skylars next attack by turning into smoke, which clouded the entire room. I felt the ropes loosen around my wrists as Austin's voice yelled: "Go!"
I complied and jumped out of my chair, running blindly forward. Something big and hard stopped me painfully. I had run into a wall. As quick as the smokescreen had appeared it disappeared as Austin solidified and helped me out the door. His rifle, magically reloaded, was firing shots off to cover our escape. He then fired off a dynamite spell, the glistening red of the conjured tnt hitting the ground and exploding.
"We need to secure the portal," He said, catching up to us "War is inevitable if we don't,"
"Well, we're gonna need to get there," Bell replied, "Look!"
She pointed at a large grouping of Arlium student, staff and guards, all waiting for us at the base of the lobby stairs.
