'Because you waited too long to make your move, and now you're in the friend zone.' - Joey Tribbiani, The One With The Blackout

'No, no, no. I'm not in the zone.' - Ross Geller, The One With The Blackout

'Ross, you're mayor of the zone.' - Joey Tribbiani, The One With The Blackout

"So are you gonna tell me who Rachel is?" Joey asked right after 5 minutes of asking that the first time.

I puffed out my cheeks. "Alright." I looked down at the ground, not knowing where to begin.

"So Ross had this crush since 9th grade and had always wanted Rachel since he first met her…"

I heard the door click open, slowly. Out emerged a face downed Ross.

"Hi." His depressed face looked towards us after some time. His back leaned against the door making it close and sighed.

"So I take it that you and Rachel are a couple now." I sarcastically joked.

"No…" He dragged the 'o' sound in a low voice, his body probably lost control and shut down. He looked relaxed, just way too relaxed not being able to move anything. Well that's what it seemed.

"So what actually happened?" Joey was looking curious. I don't know why he would be though.

"Well…" He gave an uncomfortable cough and covered the bottom of his nose. Now why would he do that? To stop breathing?? "Well…" He gave another cough.

"Oh my God! Just spit it out!" I was seriously starting to become impatient.

"Alright, fine!" He gave me a shout that was half gritted through his teeth. "So basically, that was an awkward silence in between us and we both asked how we were doing. But then I could obviously tell that she was annoyed at me, even though I still don't know why, and I asked…"

"Oooh," Joey and I scrunched our faces, knowing that it was just too painful to continue listening to his story. Ross noticed and his face turned discouraged. "What? Want me to continue or not?"

Joey and I looked at each other at the same time and shrugged our shoulders and pursed out lips. Why not? We seemed to say.

"So then I asked," Ross continued. "And I could tell she was lost for words and she ended up wanting to leave or something. And then I grabbed her… and I accidentally said that I loved her."

Both me and Joey were leaning in, eyes wide.

"Could you guys stop that, it's really annoyi-"

"Oh finish the story!" We rushed him.

"Alright, fine!" He huffed. "And then I denied it…"

"Oh my God, you what?!"

"No, wait, and then I did say that I loved her.. And then I found out that she liked me too."

I smiled greatly. "Great! That's great Ross!" I had no idea why he was so sad though…

"But-" There it is!

"There's a but? Please don't let there be a but…" I really hoped that there was a really good excuse. Like he needed to go to the bathroom first or something.

Ross hesitated saying what he was about to say next but he finally sighed. He mumbled and I could barely make out what he was saying but when I did, I gave up on him.

"I told her that I was still with Julie."

"Oh my God!" Joey was as shocked as I was.

"Dude, what the hell is wrong with you?!" I was so angry with him. "You're basically in the friend zone now!" Okay, the next thing that I did was not intentional. It was but I regretted it. I hit him. It was just a little slap. On the arm.
