We arrived at the audition soon enough and guess what? It was apparently the Days Of Our Lives one as well. Was this fate or just a coincidence? As soon as I parked my car, Joey jumped and rushed out and it looked like he almost bumped himself on the entrance doors. Either that or he wasn't strong enough to push it. But I'm guessing it's door number 1. Oh, I didn't see that pun there…

Even though Joey was rushing, I should be too, cause I'm such a good friend. But hey, I've driven all the way here for him, he should be thankful for that! I reached the front door, and they were those sliding ones, where you push, but you have to be close to it so that the door behind you doesn't catch up to you.  I don't think I explained that right.

I saw Joey rush past some people, avoiding them and weaving through them as if it was some type of obstacle course. Joey, Joey, Joey… Do you always have to be so late?

"Excuse me, excuse me!" He reached a person who I think is the director. "I'm here to play for Doctor Drake Ramoray."

The director didn't seem impressed, look at him unpleasingly and took his glasses off. "You're half an hour late."

Joey looked like a kid that lost that teddy bear. He started pleading. "No, no, please, let me have this shot. I really need to, can I just try?

And then you can see if you want me or not." The director made a cringe but he finally gave in. "Fine." He looked at the people around him. "Alright everyone, we've got another audition. A late one." He gave a last glare at Joey as Joey gave him a nervous chuckle.

I was standing behind the people that were judging him and folded my arms. I really hoped that he got the job. I still remember when he wished that I got the job, when it was with all the lottery and he pulled out the wishbone. He actually wished that I got the job and didn't wish that we would win the lottery. It made me realise that our friendship is really strong, as roommates too.

The audition ended and the director pursed his lips and shook his head. Joey looked down as he knew what the director was going to say. "I'm sorry… you're just not right for this part…"
"Yeah, that's what they all say."

I sped my way across to his aid. I gave him a good rub on his shoulder, telling him that it's going to be alright. "There's going to be other chances, you know…"

"Yeah, I know, but I just thought that this was the one… even though I'm not a doctor or anything like that. But hey, I can act right?"

"Of course you can buddy." I thought that too, that this was the right part for him. I mean this is the acting job that he was most comfortable back in my world. Back in my world… it sounds so weird saying that.

Joey still had a hurt face after another rejection and I felt really bad for him.  I started thinking about what a kid would be happy for, after something really bad happened to them. Then it hit me. "Hey Jo, you wanna grab some pizza on the way home?"

His face lit up as I expected. "What? Really?"

"Yeah, why not? It's not like we had it yesterday."

He gave me a shy chuckle. "I did… when you were gone."

I rolled my eyes. Of course, who would've given him something to eat? "Well, we can have some today as well. Who says that there are such things as too many pizzas?"

Joey gave me a firm nod. "Yeah! Who says?"

"Alright, well I'll meet you back at the car, I just have to go to the bathroom for just a second."
