"Ah! Detective Yamaski!" A potbellied man had waddled halfway across the room toward me, arms wide open. I could see the sweat under his arms meaning he was hardworking or just disgusting, I chose to believe the first.
"You're ready to meet your assistant?" He asked patting the front of his thighs. I smiled
                              "Willingly Mr Boatsy." I joked.
"He gave a toothy grin. "Right this way."
I was led through a maze of paper-covered desks to a door at the end of a lengthy room. The room was furnished with modern pieces. The walls were painted white and were clean, the window frames painted black. It looked like a nice place to work but my opinion was limited due to my lack of experience.
"Just through here." He opened a matte black door and stepped into a carpeted room.
He stood aside, held the door open. I stepped in clutching my bag with both my hands.
A youthful-looking boy sat in a cream coloured chair. He sat straight backed with folded legs and his hands clasped over his overlapping knee. He sported a navy, white striped suit. Under his ironed jacket was a white t-shirt and white socks to match. Mr Boatsy waddled over to a desk that sat in-front of a large window, the desk was coloured the same as the door, window frames and most of the work chairs.
Mr Boatsy dropped into the chair behind the desk. The lazily lifted his hand and pointed. "This is Montgomery Avent."
The boy gave him a glare.
"Monty"(Mr Boatsy corrected himself)"this is Clementine Yamaski." Mr Boatsy gestured towards me.
I held out a hand to shake. Monty threw a haughty glance at my outstretched hand.
I could tell the meeting was not going to be enjoyable.
