I played with the ring on my left hand, spinning it around, trying to put how badly I wanted to see my partners and son back home out of my mind. It had only been a few hours since I last saw them, but it was longer than I'd ever been used to.

The air in London smelled so different from the air in Massachusetts and I was getting anxious waiting for the car to pick us up from the airport. I was there with Anna, the Magister of America and my boss, for some meeting she said I had no choice but to attend – it didn't pass me that none of the other Sheriffs were asked to come, but sometimes with Anna it was better to not ask questions. She came back from the bathroom; I gave her a side glance. Vampires don't need to use the bathroom in a traditional sense, but I myself stopped in to make sure I'd looked presentable.

"You've got a little..." I said, rubbing my chin. Anna had a drop of deep red blood on her chin.

"Oh! Thanks, Liz," she said, wiping her chin clean, embarrassed that it wasn't clean.

A car pulled up to the curb. A woman in a suit stepped out, asked for Anna by name, and when Anna acknowledged her, she opened the door for us to get in. The woman grabbed our bags and placed them in trunk and then closed the door behind us when we got comfortable in our seats. I texted Val, Chris, and Zane.

Val replied with a picture of her, one of our husbands, and our son in bed

Val replied with a picture of her, one of our husbands, and our son in bed. Odie was four years old, and gave us a run for our money – if Chris and I weren't vampires that didn't have to sleep, I'm sure Val and Zane would have struggled a lot more with him. Val's dark red hair now sported a thin white streak next to her left temple. I smiled. Anna looked over my shoulder and I showed it to her.

"Where's Chris?" she asked.

"At the office. The New York Sheriff needed advice on how to deal with a rogue vampire."

"How is everyone else? How's the married life?"

"We're not actually married, Anna. But it's nice having something to make me think of them while I'm away." I touched my ring again.

"What is 'actually married'? As far as I'm concerned, you're just as married to them as I was to Geoffrey. More so, if anything, because you four love each other. I married you four as your Magister, so I'm not sure how that differs from a justice of the peace marrying humans." I nodded and put my phone back into my pocket. Chris and I had gotten married barely a year ago under the eyes of the Syndicate, Val and Zane had gotten married in the eyes of the fae realm, and the four of us managed to put together some combination ceremony that tied us all together in the eyes of the entire supernatural world with Anna acting as the officiant along with Elijah for the magic. "When we meet up with Alphonse, he's going to want to get right down to it. He's all work."

"What exactly am I even doing here, Anna? I thought you said this was a meeting for Magisters?"

"It is."
