I kept Ray and Aria in their cages, only allowing them a small amount of rabbit blood every few days. It hurt me to watch them starve, but they also didn't complain. They knew what they'd done was wrong and no one dared to disagree.
As we neared Halloween, we all kept a close watch on Odie, worried what the prophecy meant by "darkness". He didn't seem different at all, and that scared us more than if he'd changed. Val's pregnancy belly started to show, and Odie had more questions. We answered them the best possible way without confusing him and scaring him. For Halloween Jackson and Olivia invited Odie to go to a trick or treating event the city had set up downtown. We all decided to go and enjoy ourselves and have a night to not worry about the future.
The night before Halloween, Val tossed and turned in the bed and I finally decided to ask her what was wrong after the fifth heavy sigh she'd let out.
"The first Halloween can be tough after a fae child turns five," she finally told me.
"Why?"
"The veil between realms, not the fae realm and here, but the 'other side', is thin. The Realm of the Dead is nothing to play around with and depending on their magical abilities and how close their birthday is to Halloween, and what shit they've gone through... Halloween can suck for a five-year-old fae..." Val had never mentioned anything about the 'other side' or the Realm of the Dead before and I didn't know how bad it might be.
"What are you saying?"
"I don't know, that's the problem. My first Halloween was pretty normal, I didn't have much to worry about. I don't know how Zane's was... But Odie... this whole prophecy thing... I'm worried."
"Well, you need your sleep regardless, Val... Also, happy anniversary," I said with a smile, watching the clock turn to midnight. There was a knock on the door, it was Chris and Zane telling us happy anniversary too. They climbed into the bed with us and Zane pushed me onto my back, kissing me, and held my arms above my head while Chris sat Val on his lap. "What's going on?" I asked.
"Shh..." Zane said, kissing my body. "Let us give you your anniversary present." He ran his warm hands down my legs, prickling every nerve. I noticed now that he'd also had a bit of white hair in his long sandy blonde mane. He kissed up one leg and continued until he was pulling off my shirt, exposing my breasts.
He ran his finger along the scar I'd gotten years ago from his aunt and kissed it. He was always careful to appreciate it, as if he regretted she'd gotten to do it. He pulled my body closer to his and slipped his fingers between my legs while playing with my nipple. I heard a small moan come from Val as I saw Chris' head disappear between her legs. I groaned loudly as Zane grazed my clit with his thumb, but stopped short when I remembered Odie was across the hall.
"Don't worry," Zane said, through heavy breaths. He kissed up my chest, to my jaw. "I spelled the room silent..." His fingers moved softly in and out of me. "He can't hear us, but we can hear him if he makes a noise." I laughed, wondering why we'd never thought to do that before.
I needed more from him and he knew it. Zane kissed a trail from my breast to my navel and then between my legs. His tongue flicked against my clit and I closed my eyes as the pleasure surged through me. I rocked my hips in time with his tongue. Zane hooked one hand under my right knee and held it up, exposing more of me to him. He groaned as he stared at me, taking in just how much I enjoyed his actions.
"I'll never get tired of this..." he whispered just before he dipped his tongue back inside of me. He licked my ass to my clit a few times before he stopped to suck for a moment. I couldn't take it. I flipped on top of him. The look on his eyes when I'd taken charge was almost a challenge. I guided him inside of me and grinded into him hard as I rested my hands on his chest. My fangs dropped and he smirked. "Feed." I leaned forward to feed while he took charge. His blood poured into my mouth while he pounded into me from underneath. I healed his wound seconds before a wave of ecstasy came over me. Zane didn't slow as the orgasm nearly blinded me. But I needed more blood.
