I knelt down in front of Val, moved the joint away from her face and kissed her, wrapping my fingers in her hair. She put one of her arms across my back and kissed me back. I pulled away and moved to Chris to kiss him. He raised an eyebrow and blew his smoke into my mouth. I took a deep breath and then touched my lips to his. I felt a slight spark, but it wasn't much yet. I knew it was going to be a while before the full effect kicked in. I moved over to Zane who had just finished his joint and kissed him. He put his hands on either side of my face and kissed me, hard. I nearly felt myself melt as I wrapped my arm around his neck to hold myself up.

When we pulled away, I finished my joint and then laid down in the middle of the blanket. I put one hand across my stomach and held it with the other just watching birds fly overhead and listening to the sounds of the woods. It was silent as we all sat and enjoyed the nature around us. Val dug her feet into the dirt again and hummed softly to herself. Zane laid down on the blanket as well, on his stomach and rested his forehead on his arms and hummed to himself too. Chris was sitting with knees up, resting his arms on them.

"Woah," Val said, suddenly breaking the silence after a while.

"You okay?" I asked, looking at her upside down.

"...My face is tingly..." she said. I could see her touching her cheeks. She laughed softly. "Wait..." she whispered. "Am I high?" she said, turning towards us. I laughed.

"Oh, I'm pretty sure you are," I said. Zane looked up and looked around. "Zane, did you fall asleep!?"

"Uh... yeah... I was super relaxed!" His voice was deeper and cracked slightly. I laughed to myself.

"Chris? Are you feeling anything?" He didn't answer. "Chris?"

"I'm okay," he said. "It's starting to kick in for me. My fingers are tingly as hell..." he flexed his left hand a few times. I flipped over to my side and realized it was taking a bit of effort.

"Oh. I'm high," I said. I looked around at three of them. "Val, Zane... you two are glowing," I said.

"Don't we normally?" Val said, still squishing at her cheeks.

"Only when you sleep, or..." I winked. Zane sat up and I could see his eyes open wide as he stared at his hands.

"Woah... Val, have you looked at your hands?" She looked down at her hands and her eyes opened wide too.

"Uh... Are yours glowing too!?" she said. Zane looked up at Val.

"Wait, is this what you guys see when we do magic?" Zane asked, showing them to me and Chris.

"Definitely..." I said, lying down on my back again. Val walked over to the nearest tree and whispered something quietly. I looked towards her and watched a trail of magic float through the trees.

"...I wish I could see magic all the time... It sure would make teaching magic easier."

"Val... get back here," I said. I stood up and walked towards her. She laughed loudly as I reached her.

"Chris!" she said, leaning over me to reach for him.

"Yeah?" he said.

"Come here..." Chris put one arm behind him and used it to stand up. He walked over to Val and I. "Woah, when did you get so tall?" she laughed.

"I'm six and a half feet tall, Val. I have been since I was sixteen," he said. His arm brushed mine as he reached for Val's hand, and I felt a spark run all the way up my arm.

"Okay, before we start talking about something else... when supernatural beings are high like this... sex is supposed to be great. And I've been waiting to do this with Chris for a long time... So, Val, whatever you want him for is going to have to wait." She looked upset but knelt down and laid down next to Zane on the blanket as I felt a rush of nerves come over me. Chris touched my arm; a light shock ran down my arm. I put my hand on his and saw a spark between us. Chris must have seen it too because I saw his eyes open wide.
