I haven't updated in a few days cuz I was dreading writing this chapter-no pun intended. Well here we go.
TW- domestic abuse
- Rich POV -
Ugh c'mon. I gotta tell you I have not been looking forward to today. Today is the day I go back to my house, where my excuse for a father is. My shin was pretty much all healed and I can walk without the crutches so after school I'm going back home. Michael knows how I feel, so being the great boyfriend he is, he avoids talking about it. I know, however, there's no way of avoiding it. "I really appreciate it Michael, but you don't need to tip toe around the fact I go home today." He gives me a shocked face. "I just figured you didn't want to talk about it." We grab our bags and head for the door. "Of course I don't want to talk about it, but what choice do we have?"
- time skip to lunch bc my brain is tired and can't come up with more things then it has too rn -
- still Rich -
I sat with the gang at lunch, as per usual, and they were trying their best to distract me. They knew I had to go home today and that my father was an alcoholic, but only Michael and Brooke know about the abuse. It's not something I open up about. Brooke only knows because we were-and still are-best friends, and she noticed some scars I had like last year. She also had to take me to the hospital and CityMD a couple times. She was my go-to person for dad issues, and it's great that I have Michael too now. "So Rich, you said you read that Chris Colfer series right?" Christine asked me in an attempt to stop me from staring into space. "Huh? Oh yeah you mean the 'Land of Stories' books?" I asked to make sure, you never know with Christine. "Yeah those. I think I might read it." I got a little overly excited. "Really? Omg! You are gonna LOVE them! They're even making a film adaptation and I'm sooooo excited!" Everyone stared at me. "Too much? Heh heh." We all just started laughing. It was nice for a little while. Like an escape from reality. But it was over to soon as the bell rang and I realized I was still in school, and I still had to go home later.

- 3rd person POV -
The last period bell rang. Usually Rich jumped up and ran out of the class but today he didn't even get up. He sat there until the teacher made him leave. He found Michael outside like usual. "Hey." Michael said frowning. "Ugh this is really happening. Well I guess it was nice while it lasted." Rich said taking Michael's hand. They walked to the car and Michael drove Rich home. As he approached his home he let out a worried sigh, and waved goodbye to his boyfriend. He entered the house and tried his best to get to his room without his father noticing him. Of course he did anyway. "Where have you been boy." Rich knew how to get out of the situation. "School father." He hid his lisp. Rich had answered that question to many times to count. "It seems you've been at school for a while. Like... all week." Rich immediately tensed. Damnit he figured it out. I thought he'd be drunk enough to not notice. "Wha-" before Rich could finish the word he was knocked to the ground. "YOU DON'T GO SOMEWHERE ALL WEEK WITHOUT TELLING ME BOY. YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER." Before Rich knew it he was a complete mess. His dad had found his just healed shin, and a broken beer bottle, oh and a lamp. He probably had two black eyes and maybe a broken wrist ow yeah definitely broken. His dad had passed out, thank god. He didn't know how but somehow Rich was able to grab his phone and get out the front door without his dad noticing. He really should have just called Michael, but decided to walk to his house instead-for whatever reason. It was a quick walk, but still. He approached the house and rang the doorbell. Michael opened the door. "Omg omg Rich what the hell what happened omg?!?!?!??" Rich collapsed onto him-because he was an idiot and walked to his house-and Michael brought him inside. "MOM I NEED HELP RIGHT NOW!!!!!" Michael's mom came down the stairs and immediately saw the state Rich was in. "Ok Mikey stay calm, we are going to take him to the hospital." Michael nodded anxiously. "Michael I-he-" Just as Rich started he passed out from all that happened. Michael scooped Rich up as he and his mom ran to the car. Luckily, Michael's other mom worked at the hospital, so they could call in advance.
- time a skip -
- Michael POV -
I waited anxiously for them to allow visitors to see Rich. It had been a couple hours since we got there and I was a mess. FINALLY they called for me. I rushed to his side. "Richie how are you feeling?" The concern on my face growing. "I'm feeling a lot better. Guess who's going right back on crutches for my shin?" He said laughing. "Oh and the cops filed a report against my dad and your mom kinda got like custody over me until next year or something. I don't really remember I'm tired." I smiled at him. "Well, that's amazing. I'm glad you're going to be safe now." Just then Brooke came running into the room. "WHERE IS THE PIECE OF CRAP WHO HURT YOU I WANT HIM TO FEEL MY WRATH!" We burst out laughing. "It's ok Brooke, the police are taking care of him." She began to calm down. "Oh. Well. Um. That'll work to I guess." She came over and hugged Rich. "I wish you had told other people sooner so this wouldn't have happened, but I'm happy you're okay Rich. I don't know what I'd do without my best friend."
God that was a tough one to write. I'm sorry it took so long I just was having a rough time with it. Also I probably won't be writing or updating til like Saturday (August 24) because I'm going on vacation and won't really be on my phone. Anyway hope you enjoy!
