Heathers P.O.V
We had all gotten inside the Dome, in a holding room shaped place, where all our classmates stood, each looking just as nervous as the next. I gulped, this was really happening. I for once clung to Fire, I mean he seemed more comforting then falling right? Okay, I kinda like him, I just was so happy he wasn't under my sisters spell it made me smile. In fact, he looked at her like he hated her, that was perfect in my book.
I, on purpose avoided all my friends, in fact, only might say I had none. Well, almost none. I had some. We just, stayed to ourselves.
I was the first one out of our group, so I let go of Fire who gave me an engouraging smile, “I'll see you on the flip side, you little firecracker.”
I was about to protest, but he kissed me. This wasn't just a cheek kiss like before his lips felt so smooth against mine. He gave me a soft hug whispering, “don't forget about me.” and he was gone.
I paled, and blushed deeply darting into the other room where a group of instructors stood, and a big door as well. The door had my picture on it, I had no idea how that happened and it took me a back I gasped and my favorite instructor Ms. Leeloa, came up giving me a comforting hug. “Shh dear its okay, it always has your photo before you go in, its to remind you of who you are.”
I noded, and twitched as she moved away smiling, “Just inside you will find your worse fears and your greatest dream. You will see things that only you can see, and what you do in there we can not see. Now, should something go wrong, and this has never happened, we will shut the Trial down and you will be safe. Your code word is red. Can you remember that?”
I nodded, red, like Fire. I blushed staring down at my hands.
“Don't worry Heather, I know you'll do great!”
I smiled at her, she believed in me, that was a first. I thought she would just say that to anyone to calm there nerves but she looked like she really meant it. She patted my shoulder, and pushed me to the door as I was to scared to move.
It didn't open at first and when she moved back, I thought I was going to freak out, soon as it opened, I guess.. it wanted just me.
I took a moment and then slowly stepped in.
The door slammed behind me.
This was it.. I was going to be judged. A voice spoke to my right whispering in my ear, “Welcome Heather, you have reached the age of 17 and it is time for you to be judged.”
I tensed and shifted looking to my right where the voice was coming from, it was a bright, dark, light. It shifted and doubled around me was now a course of three different lights, one red, one black, and one white. I knew what they ment. They all looked at me, or it appeared it I looked forward again away from them. And slowly walked to the middle.
There was three items there, laying on the ground. A dark dagger, a red ring, and a white key. I was conffused.
“I don't understand” I said slowly looking to the lights they all smiled, and danced around me.
“Heather, you will go through a series of tasks, how you deal with them, will show your true inner self, that will show us what you will be”
I nodded, still slightly conffused, the black and red fairy disappeared, and around me the room light up with a bright light I never knew, and flowers, a bunch of people dancing in circles, and a women playing a harp. I saw the three items had shifted, the white one was now a funny looking instrament, the red was now a cup of tea, no doubt to be brought around, and the black, stayed a dagger.
I couldn't decide, three tiny fairies popped in on my shoulder, each matching their colors.
“If you choose the flute, you wish you could dance and join the party.” spoke one of them, two guesses who?
“If you choose the tea, you wish you could make them all happy by giving a drink.” spoke another
“And if you choose the dannger, you wish the happiness would die and they would all stop.”
And all together they said, “wich will it be”
I swayed a bit, I felt completely off centered, I didn't want them to die, so I knew in this case it was not dark. As if reading my mind the black disappeared. I blinked, well this was going to be easy. I stared at the other two, yes I would love to dance, but I didn't know how. The truth was I knew I'd take the cup, it was calling for me. The flute vanished.
“You have chosen red, for task one”
One the wall a big red emblem appeared, I marveled the dancing stopped. Did I pick wrong? What if I was wrong. The room around me appeared to change, it was a marvelous kitchen, I smiled. Now, this was my type of thing. Before me the three items shifted, there was a white cupcake, an red paring knife, and a black bottle with poison written on it.
I twitched.
“A cupcake to enjoy and laugh and dance around the room with.” came a voice
“A paring knife, to join in and aid in the cooking.” came another
“Or a poison bottle, to poison the food.” came the last
I shook my head, poison? That would be horrible. It vanished. I loved cupcakes but I wanted to make them. The white vanished.
“The Trials are over.” came a voice.
I looked up. Before me stood the red emblem, I knew it, I just knew it. The voices spoke to me one last time.
“Your heart called out, as you used your head to figure out your answers Heather. You have the heart of a servant, but you fight it strongly. You wish to help others, be there for them, and help them through hard times, not kill them. You have a good heart, just one that would be better for assisting others then for trying to be a girl laughing and just playing all the time. You find great joy in the ablity of being able to be there to help a friend in need. This doesn't make you weak in fact it makes you very strong.” came the red voice. The light shifted into a pretty young girl before me, she looked about 17 as well, I smiled to her.
“your strength comes from your heart, you have a heart of gold, never forget that.”
and she was gone. The room lite up, but the door had opened, The trials I had feared so much.. was over. A sigh of relief came across me, and I fell to my knee's, I was red. I was a neutral personality, this was OK. I could deal with that. I did like helping others after all I just was no push over.
“Heather?” I looked up my Teacher had come in, she smiled, “I don't know what happened in here but you look great, and I love the red emblem on you, it suits you”
I looked down, true enough a red emblem was clearly viable on my hand, it was elegant and beautiful. It had a simple red eye in the middle with two hands holding each other right under it, a soft triangle around it. I smiled.
“Did I, fail?” I asked shyly, she laughed.
“No dear, you did wonderful, I don't know what happened. We don't watch the Trials, it is personal.”
I nodded, She helped me up and we headed out, It was over. I could breath again so to speak. Thank goodness. A Neutral Vampire? I could handle that.
