Shadow's P.OV

Of course, I would be last. I had tensed a few times since Heli had left I felt her having panicked in the middle but I couldn't calm her, I couldn't reach her. It was like she was in another world.

I had felt her fear.

Her tension.

Her reaching out for me.

But I couldn't help, it made me feel like shit, and I was holding my head. How was I going to get through this. I swear I was going to be sick.

All to soon for my liking I heard my name being called. At least I could get out of here now, being last of our group, sucked. I took a moment and centered straightening up and brushing off some dust from my tux. I straighten my tie, and turned my dark eyes staring at the door I had to go through to get to the trials room.

I nodded, and walked inside met by instructors running around, idiots, I don't know why they don’t do this better, I could easily run this better then they did. I starred at the door hearing one the morons tell me, red was my key word and that to say it if things got out of hand.

I waved them off, and nodded, annoyed. Idiots do your job better, “Shadow? Good luck.” I didn't even look at the voice just nodded. I felt so, annoyed and aggravated that I didn't want to talk to them, I hardened my features and stolled in the door soon as it opened.

It slammed shut behind me.

This was it, I was going to deal with an older then old system, lovely, at least it works.

A voice spoke to my right whispering in my ear, “Welcome Shadow, you have reached the age of 17 and it is time for you to be judged.”

I nodded, I was still standing stiff I didn't even turn to the voice. I just stood there waiting my arms over my chest. My normal black magic flashed around me, and the Trial voice spoke, “gifted with powers you are designed to do great things, Shadow.”

With a shift of the room, I was surrounded by a elegant dark black castle it reached high to the sky, it looked as if I was standing outside of a giant castle, it was powering rain around me, but I was not getting wet a flash of lightening went right by me. And I didn't even flintch. A evil sounding laugh sounded and my delicate S that was on Heli's arm appeared on the black castle. And thats when my arm burned and an dark hooded figure appeared before me.

“Shadow you have been judged, you shall be named the next Vampire King. By your side, will be the Mentor and two girls. Sisters. Your group shall all make each other whole but without one of the four the group will be able to be destroyed. You will strive to cling to the power you hold, and shall do that, becoming feared beyond anything anyone has seen before. But should the twins turn on you, you will fail.”

A black emblem appeared on the wall. It had the usual red eye in the middle, with a dark black triangle, and an dark dagger underneath the eye, my home symbol.

“You have been judged, welcome to the Dark, Vampire King” came a dark voice from the castle before me and a flash of black surrounded me.

I was in shock. The only difference on my black emblem and the one that was on the wall, was the crown on top of it, well that makes me a target. A lot of the dark would try to kill me, before I could cause the terror that a Vampire King always caused, but a grim smile spread my lips. I knew I was strong, my mentor, would be my guide. He usually becomes the most feared before the King takes his place, we had a long way to go, after all, we was only seventeen.

I heard a one last thing from the dark room before it regained light, “Keep the girls close, Shadow, do not let them out of your sight,

People will try to take them from you, thefts.

People will try to trick them, cowards.

And they will try to kill them, heartless.

You will be their rock, and their sanctuary, but they may not see it that way. Do what you must Vampire King, and do not lose your legacy before it begins. Good luck.”

And the room went blank, everything, again all normal as it was when I walked in orginally no voices now. It was done. I was a Vampire King, the Vampire King. But, I had to be trained. The mentor would train me, but who was he?

I headed out, the instructor that was waiting for me to exit shy-ed away as I came, he had saw the mark, I glared at him and strolled out, following the Dome to the exit, There I would find the Mentor. And we would begin our legacy.

Yes, I always knew I was destined for great things.

I just never knew how great.
