Chapter Eight Part Two - The Trials - Heli

Heli's P.O.V

When it was my turn I squeezed Shadow's hand looking at him nervously thinking, I hope this goes well. He nodded to me and gave me a soft kiss to the cheek, whispering in my ear, “Knock em dead, Heli.” I smiled, and ran a finger down his arm rubbing the SF mark on his wrist, and whispered, “You to, Shadow.”

He smiled.

I turned and went in to the room where my name had been called, seeing a bunch of the normal teachers from school rushing about the machines punching in all sorts of buttons. I peered to the door in the middle of the chaos, and saw my smiling face on the photo. I bite my lower lip, cripes, this was really it.

“Heli?” I looked to my right and shook hands with Mr. Nell my science teacher, okay, yes I'm a nerd I loved his class. He smiled, “You do look absolutely beautiful today young lady, are you ready?”

I gave a nod and cleared my throat, “As ready as I can be.” I said with a soft shutter, He smiled reassuringly.

“Just remember to be yourself, and good luck my favorite student! And don't forget your codeword red!” He said with a chuckle. I couldn't help but grin, and nod. I stood before the door, it opened and I walked slowly in.

I slowly stepped in.

The door slammed behind me.

This was it.. I was going to be judged. A voice spoke to my right whispering in my ear, “Welcome Heli, you have reached the age of 17 and it is time for you to be judged.”

I felt my whole body stiffen, and I shifted staring to my right where the voice was, I was greeted by three lights, red, black, and white. I nodded, listening to see what it would say next. When nothing happened I turned and moved forward some more as I had seen something on the floor.

There was three items there, laying on the ground. A dark dagger, a red ring, and a white key. I was confused.

“What must I do?” I said slowly looking to the lights they all smiled, and danced around me.

“Heli you will go through a series of tasks, how you deal with them, will show your true inner self, that will show us what you will be”

I gave a stiff nod, I wasn't looking forward to this. I knew it mattered not I was a red, now, as the fairy had cursed me, I knew my life was over.

The lights shifted, and a scene appeared around me, it was a beautiful ballroom, with fancy hanging lights and a bunch of people dancing.

The items before me shifted, there was a red serving table, a black knife, and a set of white dancing shoes. I shy-ed away from the dancing shoes and they vanished. I shook my head, it just felt wrong. Was I being possessed in here? Shadow.. god I wish you was here. I looked at the other two items. I bite my lower lip.

This was going to take all day.

I was going to fail.

I was such a idiot.

I closed my eyes, tensing a moment and centering then looked back down a small little puppy sat wagging its tail at me. I reached out trying to pet it and it bite me.

“Heli you have been judged.” A voice said.

I clenched my hand. A set of lights played before me, and then the red emblem appeared before me and on my arm as well. I closed my eyes, I knew it.

“Heli, you have been cursed with a gift. This gift is of servitude. You are to stand proud and strong in your neutral colors, along side with the man that will need you to do what he needs to in life. You will be his rock, he will be your strength. Welcome to the Reds.”

And the room light back up, the lights vanishing my hand felt better. I looked down, the red emblem looking so foreign, I rubbed at my eyes, I knew it was going to happen I just didn't want it to. A voice came from behind me, “Heli?” I looked. My science teacher didn't seem so impressed, but he helped me up, smiled and said, “It isn't that bad, at least it wasn't white!” he grinned,

I shrugged, and walked with him out, happy to be out and done with this whole night.
