Chapter 26

At around 12 am, everyone started to leave. Joe offered to drive Emily and I both back to our apartment, so we all hopped in his car.

"So what's your address?" He asked.

"756 River Road." Emily replied almost immediately, as if she knew he was gonna ask that.

"Okay." Joe said as he smiled and punched in the address in the gps.

"And can we-"

"Have the roof on? Yeah, sure." He winked. Could he read my mind or something???

"So, since I didn't get to hear you sing tonight, I dare you to sing the next song that comes on the radio." I demanded.

"I accept that challenge." He said. He turned on the radio, and Nobody by Ricky Dillon was playing. I laughed, and he cleared his throat.

"I don't want nobody, nobody. Nobody, nobody but you, you, you." He sang. His voice was that of an angel.

"Yeah that's all I know haha." He admitted.

"I don't know that much either. It only came out a couple of days ago." I said.

"So, Emily, where do you work?" Joe asked.

"Oh I'm in Rebecca's band. Yeah, I'm a vocalist and I play lead guitar." She replied, relaxing on the backseat.

"Nice!" He said, clearly impressed.

"Yeah." She chuckled slightly. Pretty soon, our house pulled up.

"Oh hey, this is it." I said, pointing at our tiny, shaded teal house.

"Oh okay." He said, and pulled into the driveway.

"Thanks for everything, Joe. It was really nice to meet you!" Emily said, getting out of the car and hugging him. She turned away, walked up to the front door, and unlocked it. I stayed behind.

"Yeah, it was amazing tonight. I still can't believe I met you." I blushed.

"I can't believe I met such an amazing girl." He said. Joe leaned in and quickly kissed me on my cheek. Um, did that just happen?

"Hey, we should go have lunch tomorrow." He suggested. I was still in shock.

"Um-uh yeah sure." I replied.

"Okay, I'll pick you up here tomorrow around noon. Bye!" He said.

"Bye." I replied, waving away as he drove out of the driveway, and into the night.
