ava walked outside on a fresh monday. she saw jimmy on her front lawn. she tittered with surprise. she laughed as she walked up to him.

"did you just expect him not to show up?" she asked him, almost offended.

jimmy shrugged.

"i don't know, i decided to take my chances." he responded.

"if it meant i could talk to you." he flirted shyly, looking away.

ava blushed, looking away from him as well. she could only think about how george would have never been so bold, but that's what she admired.

"oh, hush you..!" she shushed, nudging him before locking her arm with his.

"i get what jane was talking about now." she joked, laughing afterwards.

"what? me being a manwhore? thanks." jimmy questioned, sounding mildly resentful with a chuckle.

"mhm. big time." she furthered the joke.

they both laughed for a few moments.

"speaking of flirting, how's you and maureen?" ava asked.

jimmy shrugged.

"i hit on her and she didn't seem to care or seem interested. we're kinda neighbours, so i waved at her this morning. but- she gave me a kind of forced wave." he vented.

ava empathized with him.

"oh, don't worry. she'll give in. if not, then it wasn't meant to be." she advised wisely.

it went quiet until they bursted into laughter.

"you sounded like such a guru." jimmy teased.

ava mourned, as it sounded like something george would say.

"hey! i was just trying to help." she defended with a chuckle.

their laughter faded until jimmy spoke again.

"hey i have a question for you, it's stuck with me for awhile." jimmy interjected.

she looked up at him, curious.

"did you like.. like george? or were you just kissing him sometimes..?" he asked.

ava looked down. she knew the answer, but didn't want to admit to it currently.

"um.. we just kissed sometimes, i guess. super casual." she lied.

if she were talking to george, he would have known she was lying.

"oh, okay." jimmy muttered.

"why?" she asked with a smile.

"no, uh.. no reason." he answered, scratching the back of his neck.

with that, they said their goodbyes and went off on their own trail. ava sighed as she sat down on a chair in the library.

'i miss george so much.' she thought to herself.
