I can't imagine being separated from Rylee, but it has to happen. For the better of the world, universe even. I need to protect Rylee, she is my whole world.
I spaced out. "Hey Teagan, You okay?" Rylee says in a calm tone. "Uh-huh," I mutter. "Lets go inside," Rylee whispers as she locks her elbow into mine. "I'm tired," I mutter.
My knees give out on me, Rylee notices and slowly lets me down. "How about I just carry you," She suggests while picking me up. I say nothing in return. She lifts me up so that I face her.
I wrap my legs around her waist, my arms around her neck, and I kiss her. Kissing and being with her are the only things that feels real anymore, the only thing that feels safe.
Rylee carries me into the hut, she sets me onto the couch. "I'm going to take a nap," I tell Rylee. "Okay, I love you," She responds. "I love you," I state. Rylee leaves into the kitchen.
I close my eyes and try to sleep. I can't sleep, my mind just keeps racing. All of the things that have been going on, it makes me have to think.
Why do the Tringers want to take over? Was it really them that planted the landmines, or was it someone else? We need answers, we need the truth.
We also need to figure out what exactly Recs are, besides powers, do they mean something else? How many different types of Recs are out there?
I have an idea. I try to sit up on the couch, I succeed. I stand up my legs are wobbly but they do not give out. Now I have to re-teach myself to walk. I take a small step, using my telekinesis to keep myself upright, It works.
I stumble into the kitchen. "Aye you can walk again," Cannon gloats. "I wouldn't call it walking, I'm using telekinesis," I respond. "That's a very creative idea Squirt," Kacey singed. "Thanks, but I have a better idea," I replied.
"I want you guys to kidnap a Tringer for me," I order. "We have to know why, why they want earth," I added. "I don't know," Grayson whines. "Grayson you're staying here, with me," I remark.
"Only kidnap one if you can get it alone," I insist. "Okay boss," Cannon chimes. "Everyone who thinks this is a bad idea, raise your hand," I say. Kacey, Rylee, and Grayson all raise their hands. "Too bad, we have to do this," I demand.
I need to sit down, I stumble over to a chair and sit. I sit in between Cannon and Kacey. "Are you sure about this?" Kacey questions. "Positive" I lied. I'm never sure anymore, but this is the only choice we have, if we want to know why. "Okay then," Rylee mutters.
Gregor walks into the room. "Where were you?" Brynn asks. "Out" He responds. "Teagan I would like to speak with you," He implies. "Okay, what about?" I question. "Just come with me," He insists.
He walks into the sitting room, I follow. I stumble over and plopped down onto the futon. "What do you want?" I ask him. "I think we should bring your father here," He responds. "No!" I shout. "Not going to happen, he is a no good bum. This war is the only thing he was ever good for!" I added. "My point exactly, he is good for this war," Gregor counters
"He is not allowed here," Kacey reports. I look behind me and there she is, supervising from the doorway. "Why?" Gregor questions. "Because he was, and if he came, would be abusive," Kacey states. "Oh" Gregor sighs.
"I do have these medallions that will allow you guys to keep in touch with the home base, which is here," Gregor informs. "How is that?" I question. "They have heavy duty walkie talkies in them, and tracking devices so that we can get to you if needed." Gregor states.
Gregor hands me a metal medallion that has a robin engraved on it. "Thanks" I mutter. He also hands one to Kacey, she nods. "I have to go give these to everyone else," He states.
"I'm going to go talk to Rylee," Kacey informs as she walks back into the kitchen. "Okay" I respond. Cannon waltzes out of the kitchen.
"Whats up?" He chimes. "I want to talk to you," I say flatly. He nods. "Please protect her," I beg "Please don't let Rylee die, I can't imagine life without her," He gives me a sympathetic look. "I will take care of her boss," He whispers. "Promise me, nothing will happen to her," I tell. "I promise," He says.
I hug him, I hide my head in between his neck and shoulder. "Thank you Cannon," I respond. "Anytime boss," He whispers. Cannon pulls away from the hug, "I will do my best to protect everyone else to," He added.
Rylee walks into the room. "Hey Teag," She says. "Hey Ry," I reply. Rylee sits down next to me, she leaned her head on my shoulder. "I'm going to find some food," Cannon stated as he got up and walked into the kitchen.
"I'm going to miss you Teagan," Rylee whispers. "When I leave, please don't pull any stunts like trying to follow," Rylee begged. "I won't," I assure.
I pull Rylee close and I kiss her. "I'm so happy you're here," She whispers as she kissed me back. "I love you so much, you wouldn't understand," I respond. I believe that is very truthful.
The rest of the day goes by extra swift. It's eleven o'clock and I am exhausted. I lay on the vintage couch with Rylee, my arms wrapped around her body. I feel so safe when I hold her, like I won't lose her.
"I love you," She whispers as she dozes off. "I love you too Ry," I respond. She pulls my hand up to her face, she kisses my hand. I kiss the back of her head.
Kacey is doing a crossword puzzle on the futon. "You guys sure love each other," Kacey whispers. "Yeah" I respond. I am careful not to wake the now snoozing Rylee. "I love her more than anything," I whispered to myself.
I too, fall into a deep sleep.
