Eliza folded her hands and laid them on the desk in front of her. She leaned forward and said, "The word is out. We have nothing more to talk about."
"How could you tell them!" Liam scolded.
"How could you keep the truth from them!" Eliza snapped back.
Helena speaks up. "You're not the judge on whether they should have known it."
"Who are you to keep the truth from them?" Eliza was irritated.
"You don't get it. The world is ending and we have tried to come up with a solution to save everyone, but we can't. We had the opportunity to save a few, but thanks to you, now the people will revolt and everyone dies." Liam is leaning over his desk staring into Eliza's eyes.
She's silent. She's doubting what she has done.
Helena, who is the calmest one there, explains, "The land masses are deteriorating. At the rate that we are losing the coast line, every continent will be 'dissolved' before the end of this year."
Eiza sits back in her chair as the weight of the situation hits her. "We could build a boat or a hovercraft."
Liam shakes his head. "Don't you think we've thought of that? We don't have the resources to build something big enough, even if it were possible to build a ship that big, which it isn't."
Eliza doesn't agree with what they have done, but she is beginning to see it in a new light. She wants to apologize, but what good would that do?
When the meeting is over Helena leads Eliza into the Valerie's medical room.
