It was a week after christmas. After Matty and I had finally done more then just fuck. We actually hung out. Talked. It was nice. We were more simialr then we both first thought. We had alot to talk about as well. Alot that we couldnt tell anyone else. Matty told me things that i didnt even know he would know about. Things like being scared. When i see Matty i dont think he could be scared of anything. But he was. he was scared of everything. So was I.
But right now, at 11.30 on New years Eve, all of that was so far away from our minds. All we could think was that we were invincable. We were at blackpool beach. A drive away from Manchester but worth it. The 6 of us had piled into Harry's old 4wheel drive and driven up yesterday, crashing at a large house just on the beach.
We had been drinking for a while and about an hour ago we stumbled down to the waters edge. Kat and Harry were drunkenly dancing around, laughing. Luke and Steph were being idiots making angles in the soft sand and Matty and i stood with out feet in the ocean, watching as the black water lapped around our ankles, covering our feet. I felt his arm come around my shoulders and we stood like that, the gigles from the other two going quiet behind us and then as the other people on the beach fell silent the fire works burst through the darkness.
All the colours that existed were flashing before our eyes. Out of the corner of my eye i saw Matty turn his head towards me. I felt him looking and when i turned to him a smile was plastered on his perfect lips.
"Happy New Year babe."
I rested my head into his shoulder, looking back up at the fireworks. "Happy new year Matty."
"You look so cool with all the colours flashing on your face." He said, still looking at me.
"You look so cool always." I said back to him, looking up and smiling at him.
Matty's POV
Where do I even begin with Harper. Ever since i saw her at the gym all those months ago i was intrigued. Every single thing about her was mysterious. Even her apperance. I wanted to know why she kept her hair short, why she always had her nials painted either dark red or black. Why she had decided to get so many peircings in her ear. I wanted to know everything. So far i didnt know nearly half as much as i wanted to. I knew about her tattoos, she told me about them. I also knew that she got most of her features from her dad. the long legs, blonde hair, her dark brown eyes and that killer smile. The way she spoke of him broke my heart. I could tell by the strain on her voice that even thinking about him made her want to cry. I would give up my life in the most painful way if it meant i could bring him back for her. She spoke about her brother like he was a king and even though i knew her mother and her hated each other most of her teenage years, i could tell that she was her queen.
I could barely breath as i watched her dance around in the sand with Kat and Steph. Her hair was messy and her black dress spun out around her as she twirled. She must have been freezing but she clearly didnt give a fuck. She threw her head back laughing, wrapping her arms around Kat as they both fell into the sand. God i have to tell her. We all have to tell them.
I joined Luke and Harry. "When are we going to do it?" I asked, bringing Luke's joint to my lips.
"I just got her back, guys. I cant. I wont." Luke said sternly
"Lucas...We dont have a choice." Harry sighed, sitting down in the sand. We joined him.
"Harold." He mocked, "There has to be another way. They can come with us. I cant just leave her. Please dont make me leave her."
"No they cant Luke. Its just not fair on them." Harry snapped, sucking harshely on the end of the cigarete, making himself cough.
"Fair? Whats not fair is that we earnt their trust, bought them fucking christmas presents, fucked them, and then we leave them! That is whats not fucking fair." Luke said irritated.
"We didnt know. If we had knows we wouldnt have done that. I wouldnt have gotten close to Kat if i had known and you wouldnt have been with Steph. But Luke, we didnt know. We...We just have to tell them what we planned and get it over with." Harry said, voice hoarse.
"We should at least give them the fucking truth." Lule spat, standing up and brushing off his jeans.
"Where'ya going?" I asked
"To fuck the brains out of my girlfriend one last time." He said, storming off in the darkness as Harry and I looked at one another.
Silence fell and soon the girls came over to us.
"We are going inside. Probably to bed. Are you boys coming?" Kat asked, kneeling behind harry and wrapping her hands around his neck.
"Yeh babe, lets go." Harry said, kissing her and walking hand in hand with her up to the house.
Harper sat down next to me before laying back, looking up at the stars. I passed her the joint and she took it, blowing rings with the smoke.
"You look so sad Matty." She whispered into the night, not looking at me
"Are you sad Harper?" I asked
She sat up but didnt look at me "I dont know." She looked out at the water and down the beach, but not at me.
i put my hands on her waist and pulled her onto my lap. We kissed for a bit before i lay back down, bringing her with me. She placed her head on my chest, our breathing heavy.
"Lets go inside." I said into her hair as we both stood up. I spun her around and she laughed as she hugged me and we laughed, holding onto each other before continueing up to the house.
"Matty?"
"Yeh babe?" I asked, grabbing her hand
"Please dont be so sad. You have me. In the light of day it really isnt very much but right now, under the blanket of night, and with smoke and booze in our veins, I do pretty good."
I smiled at her but wanted to cry inside. She was all i needed but the only think i didnt have. "As long as you are here, Harps, i am the happiest person in the world."
She laughed, shaking her head. "I am also the luckiest guy you know?" I said, our hands swinging.
"You will be if you hurry up and get in bed." She said, winking and running up the stairs of our house.
How the fuck could i do this to her? I sighed but put all thinking away for the night, heading upstairs to find her.
