We pushed our way past the people hanging out by the door and into the house. The sound of the music flooded my ears and I felt the thumping of the walls on my chest. Sam and I walked up a set of stairs off to the right of the room which led us to a huge dance floor crowded by drunken teenagers. I scanned the room for Ethan but I couldn't see two feet in front of me due to the number of people blocking my view. After a few minutes of walking and surfing through the crowd, Samantha yelled over the music that she had found them.

I followed her to the far corner of the room where I spotted Ethan hanging out with a few people.  I did a double-take of the small crowd around him and couldn't believe my eyes. I tightened my hand around Sam's arm and halted to a stop.

"What's wrong?" She said, giving me a concerned look.

"She's here," I said and pointed towards none other than the only woman I feared. I saw Sam's mouth turn into a thin hard line and her face twist in confusion when she spotted Nikki.

Nikki was Ethan's best friend when he and I met each other. They were conjoined at the hip from birth, or so I said. Nikki is a beautiful brunette. Curly hair and sky blue eyes. A few inches taller than me and the prettiest smile I had ever seen in my entire life. She was drop-dead gorgeous. Model-like even. She was wearing a nude strapless shirt with black skintight jeans and heels. I felt the pit in my stomach about this party grow. It's not that I was scared by her. I just felt like I couldn't compete with the bond that Ethan and her shared. They had been friends since the First day of Highschool and only stopped because Ethan started dating me and she moved away for a year to study abroad in god-knows-where. She came back a few weeks ago and Ethan had been talking nonstop about her and how he couldn't wait for her to start coming back to school next week.

Although I was okay with them being friends and whatnot, I wasn't all too thrilled about her being back. Ever since she came back, she and Ethan had been hanging out more and more, catching up and whatnot. I knew this was just a little irrational jealousy so I pushed it as far away as possible. Even when I saw Ethan's arm around her shoulders and her hand resting on his chest. I pushed that jealousy away even when I saw him whisper something in her ear and made her laugh. Yup. I'm not jealous. Not Jealous.

"Let's go," I said to Sam and plastered on the best smile I could.

"Dal, we don't have to be here if you don't want to. I know how you feel about her" She assured me.

"What do you mean? I love her" I said sarcastically. "But I'm not leaving them to have a good time alone. I want to be here. Truly. I came here to be with my Best friend and my boyfriend and I'm willing to give Nikki a chance so I can let go of this feeling she gives me."

"I'm proud of you girl!" She smiled and complied with my earlier request to go to them. Once we reached them, Sam introduced me to her friends and after a few seconds, she was taken away to dance with them. I wanted to take tonight slow so I declined their invitation and turned my attention to Ethan as they walked away.

"You look absolutely gorgeous" He smiled at me and let go of Nikki to hold his hand out for me. I gladly took it and walked closer to him. I then turned my attention to Nikki, who was giving me the biggest smile ever.

"It is so nice to see you after so long!" she screeched and pulled me into a very tight hug. "Oh my god, I can't wait to hear all about you guys!"

"It's nice to see you too" I smiled, pulling away from the hug. "How are you? A year abroad is a long time"

She started talking about her year studying and exploring all of Spain and I listened. Apparently, she learned Spanish and visited all of Europe. She really made the best of her time away. She was so nice about everything. She even asked about me and Ethan and how we have been.
