As Dr. Stevens left, the room fell silent. I could feel the awkwardness in the air. Shawn turned in my direction and our eyes met. He seemed so calm, even with the news that he needed surgery.

"So you need to schedule an appointment for your wisdom teeth removal and then a follow up appointment three weeks later. You can do that up at the front desk. Otherwise, you are good to go." I said breaking the silence. He got up from the chair and I led him to the front desk. As I was turning away, I noticed Shawn stepping in my direction.

"Hey, whats your name?" he called. It took me a second to realize he was talking to me.

"Rachel" I said with a smile. He grinned and nodded his head, then turned back around to the secretary. I made my way back to my exam room, and with that, his appointment was over.

HOURS LATER

As I was getting ready to leave the office, I couldn't help but think of Shawn. Why did he ask for my name? I looked at the dental chair, processing the fact that he was sitting there just a few hours prior. A feeling of butterflies started to bubble in my stomach and I decided to go home.
