Gojirin hadn't been able to enjoy a sunset in years. They always brought back bad memories. But she decided any memories of her past were good ones at the moment. She looked out at the nearly still ocean as the sun lit up the sky in pink and orange as it descended beneath the horizon. It was beautiful. And that's why she hated it. While she sat and watched, Godzilla and Komi approached her from behind. Both didn't really want to say anything to her, especially after their previous blowup.
"Y-you talk first." Komi said.
"What? Why me?" Godzilla whispered.
"Because she probably likes you more right now." Komi said. Godzilla couldn't argue, and with a groan, walked up to his mother. He struggled to find something to say for a while, but eventually thought of something.
"Um... mind if I sit here?" He asked.
Gojirin only nodded. With that settled, Godzilla sat down on the dry sand next to her. The two were silent for a good while, until Gojirin broke the tension.
"Did you know how your father proposed to me?" She asked.
"No, I don't think he ever told me that." Godzilla answered.
Gojirin smirked sadly as she stared out at the water. "We were about the age you are now." She began. "We were living on Newborn Island at the time. We decided to live there after we met a few years earlier. He said he wanted to take me to the beach because he had something to show me. As it turned out, what he wanted to show me was the sunset. It looked exactly like this one."
Godzilla nodded as he took in the story. He couldn't think of his father as a romantic person. Hearing about him like this was strange, but somehow comforting. As he thought about this, Gojirin removed her glove, revealing her engagement ring, still on her finger. She held her hand up to the sun, letting the light shine through the gems on it.
"While I admired the sunset, he pulled this out and got onto one knee." She explained. "It shone just like the sun. It looked like he was holding a piece of the sky in his hand. I said yes, and a few years later, you showed up."
"And then Komi, I guess..." Godzilla replied. Gojirin nodded.
"She's right, you know." She said, placing her glove back on her hand. "I hardly qualify as a mother to the both of you. You didn't even remember I exist."
Godzilla was silent for a long, long time. He looked over at Komi, who was waiting for a good time to come in. He nodded, letting her know now was that time. She began to make her way over while Godzilla spoke.
"Look, for what it's worth, I'm sorry for blowing up at you earlier." He said. "Mothra was right, you didn't deserve it."
"We're both sorry." Komi said, sitting next to him.
Gojirin chuckled. "Oh, it's alright." She assured. "I understand it was a tough situation. I reacted without thinking when I saw Komi. You were right to react that way."
"No, we weren't." Komi said. "You're our mom, and we treated you like shit without hearing you out first."
"No, really, it's alright." Gojirin said.
"No, it's not!" Komi shouted, standing back up. Both Gojirin and Godzilla were surprised by her outburst. Komi herself was just as surprised. She slowly sat back down, trying not to make eye contact with either of them.
"I'm... I'm sorry, okay?" She muttered.
"We both are." Godzilla agreed. Gojirin nodded.
"Apologies accepted." She smiled, standing up herself. "Besides, I'm not focussed on that right now. We have to focus all our efforts on finding and defeating the enemy."
"Enemy?" Godzilla asked. "What kind of enemy?"
Gojirin smirked. "Come with me. I'll explain everything."

Godzilla, Komi, Mothra, and Anguirus gathered around Gojirin's motorcycle. She unbuckled a strap from her saddlebag and sifted through its contents while she explained.
"The parasites we've been fighting come from an ancient creature called the Cloverfield monster." She explained. "It's been lying dormant at the bottom of the ocean for years, but recently it's been awakened by the Tagruato corporation's drilling rig."
"Tagruato?" Godzilla asked. "Isn't that the company that makes Slusho?"
"Among other things, yes." Gojirin explained. "They're a conglomerate. They mostly own mining companies, but one of their subsidiaries is Slusho." She paused for a moment. Slusho was a soft drink typically served in convinience stores in Japan. It was extremely sweet, and extremely addictive. Gojirin hated it herself. "I sincerely hope none of you have ever drank that garbage."
Everyone's eyes turned to Anguirus. He raised an eyebrow. "What's everyone looking at me for?" He asked.
"Anguirus, Slusho is almost all you drink." Mothra laughed.
"I saw you drinking one just this morning." Godzilla added.
"...They're really good." Anguirus muttered.
"Well there's a reason it's that good." Gojirin said, pulling out a vial of a glowing blue liquid. "This is the sweetener they use in it. Seabed's nectar. In minuscule doses, it works as a highly addictive sweetener, but in high doses, it can cause mutations on some creatures. Including Kaiju."
Once again, all eyes turned to Anguirus, who was hiding a Slusho cup behind his back.
"Um... what kind of mutations?" He asked.
"Nothing major." Gojirin explained. "But in terms of the Cloverfield monster, it makes him stronger. My research has lead me to believe that seabed's nectar is actually from another planet, and crashed to Earth millions of years ago from a meteor."
"Wait, so I've been drinking alien juice?!" Anguirus asked. While he was distracted, Godzilla grabbed the cup from behind his back and chucked it into the ocean.
"Not anymore." He smirked. Anguirus glared at him, but they continued to listen to Gojirin.
"I feared that Tagruato's drilling was going to cause the Cloverfield monster to awaken. I was right." She explained. She pulled out a large piece of parchment paper and showed it to the group. On it was a charcoal drawing depicted a tall slender figure with pale skin and sunken in eyes. Its fingers were long and bony, and his ribcage and muscles could be seen underneath his thin skin. Around the drawing was a mass of ancient lettering.
"This is a prophecy written by a demonic cult about 100 years ago." Gojirin explained. "They worshipped the Cloverfield monster as a god, and believed that one day he would awaken and tear the world apart."
"I guess they were right." Godzilla muttered.
"I've dedicated my life to stopping this monster from completing his goal." Gojirin continued, rolling the parchment back up. "But I can't do it alone. And that's why I wanted to find you."
Godzilla looked over at Komi, who was looking at him as well. They both nodded, understanding exactly what they needed to do.
"Alright. So how do we kill this thing?" Godzilla asked?
"That, I don't know." Gojirin said. "It's by far physically the strongest creature I've ever encountered. It's strong enough to single handedly destroy a drilling rig. But I have no doubts that we can defeat it."
"Then we'd better get ready." Komi smirked.
With that said, everyone left to prepare. All except Godzilla and Mothra.
"I'm glad you can Komi made up with Gojirin." Mothra smiled.
"I am too." Godzilla agreed. But he could tell Mothra wasn't completely okay. Her smile had a twinge of sadness to it.
"What's wrong?" Godzilla asked.
"N-nothing, it's stupid." Mothra said, shaking her head. But she could tell he wasn't going to let up until she confessed. "I guess I'm just... jealous."
"Jealous of what?" Godzilla asked.
"I'm jealous of... you." Mothra replied. "I mean... you know how much I miss my mother. I know it's selfish but..."
Godzilla understood now. He placed a hand on Mothra's shoulder, and she looked back up at him.
"I get it, Mothra." He assured. He knew exactly how much her mother and father meant to her. She missed them both dearly. Seeing him reconnecting with his own mom must have been torture for her. Mothra smiled somewhat sadly and gently rubbed her cheek on his hand. But before either of them could say anything else, Godzilla's communicator rang. He picked it up quickly. A now that he owned a cell phone, the only people who contacted him through his communicator were more than likely trying to get a hold of him for an emergency of some kind. He answered the call, and upon seeing Gypsy Danger appear on screen, he realized immediately that it was most likely an emergency.
"Godzilla, we have a problem." Gypsy began.
"Gypsy? What's going on?" He asked.
"It's about Rodan." Gypsy explained. "He's in grave danger."
"What? Did he get to New York okay?" Godzilla asked. At this point, Mothra walked over to look at he screen as well.
"Unfortunately, yes." Gypsy continued. "It would have been better if he stayed on Monster Island. He was bitten by one of those parasites."
Gojirin, who was repacking her saddlebags, gasped as she overheard this. She shot up and ran over to Godzilla. She shoved her way between him and Mothra. "Did he say someone was bitten?" She asked. Gypsy raised an eyebrow.
"Um... yes, I did. And you are..?" He asked.
"I'm Godzilla's mother." Gojirin explained, taking the communicator from Godzilla. "I've been studying the parasites, and I know exactly how deadly they are."
"I see. Well, you'll be happy to know that we're developing a cure for the parasite's venom." Gypsy continued.
"Why? I can just heal him like I did with Gojirin, right?" Mothra asked. Gojirin shook her head.
"You caught the venom before it entered my bloodstream." She explained. "I assume your friend has had it in his system for a few hours now."
"All we need now for a cure is DNA from the source of the parasites. The Colverfield Monster." Gypsy explained.
"So you know about this thing too?" Godzilla asked. Gypsy nodded.
"We've been calling it 'Clover'. Easier to say." He continued. "So, would you be up to find this thing for us? We can supply you with any provisions and equipment you might need."
"That won't be necessary. We'll find this thing on our own." Godzilla said. Gypsy nodded once again.
"In that case, I'll send you the location where we've narrowed it down." He said. A topographical map of the Adirondack mountains appeared on screen. "I'll explain the rest when you arrive."
Godzilla nodded, and hung up. He turned to Gojirin.
"I guess you're coming with me?" He asked.
"Of course. I know more about 'Clover' than you do." Gojirin replied. "Without me, you'd be lost."
"I'm going too." A voice said from behind them. Godzilla and Gojirin turned around, only to see Komi standing there. "It's been way too long since I've been on a mission like this. And besides, what better way to bond with my family than killing an ancient evil Kaiju?"
Godzilla and Gojirin smirked at this. All three of them were sure that the mission was going to be dangerous. But if they were together, they could survive anything.
