Chapter 17: Consequences

Just as the soldier had said, a massive wave of parasites was attacking the city. The soldiers stationed in the city were fighting back, but it wasn't gonna be enough.
"Radon and I will attack from above." Rodan said, before jumping into the air. Radon followed soon after.
"Be sure to look for survivors too." Gypsy said. The two nodded before flying off into the battle. Gypsy could already see Cherno, Crimson, and Striker fighting alongside the soldiers. Gypsy signalled to Coyote to come and join them. Meanwhile, Godzilla gathered Anguirus and Gojirin, and the three ran ahead of the soldiers to attack the wave of parasites head on. Now that none of them had to worry about bites or scratches, killing them was a breeze. The parasites did do some damage, but it was nothing fatal. The soldiers and Jaegers armour protected them from most attacks, and Godzilla's healing powers allowed him to instantly heal from them. For the first time in this battle, the odds were starting to turn in their favour. But Godzilla had a feeling this would not last for long.

The parasites claws ripped through Komi's bindings after a few seconds of sawing through them. She stood up and stretched her arms and her legs. The parasite had dug through the floor as soon as the invasion began, and began freeing her. She knelt down and pet its head affectionately.
"Good boy." She praised it. "You did such a good job." She stood back up, and the parasite stared at her intently, awaiting its orders.
"Now run along and join your brothers. I have something to take care of first." She said. The parasite obeyed immediately, and dug into the ground yet again. Komi turned her attention to the door, still with the two guards in front of it. She grinned, and made her way over to it. She had already formed a plan. She had seen Godzilla gather all his atomic energy into his fist to deliver a powerful punch before. So she decided to do the same. Her fist glowed a bright icy blue, and she sent it through the glass, next to one of the guards' head. Before the guard could react, she wrapped the forearm around his throat and pinned him to the wall, strangling him.
"Oh shit!" The other guard muttered, pointing his gun into the room. Komi rolled her eyes. Before the guard could open fire, she adjusted her grip on the guard, and pushed him into the other guard. This distracted the both of them as they checked to make sure the other was okay. While they were preoccupied, she sent an atomic blast at the lock from outside, making the door swing open. Komi grinned as she stepped outside. She was free.
"Now, which one of you assholes has my sword?" She asked the guards. They both immediately pointed guns at her.
"How rude." She muttered. She held up her hands, charging them full of atomic energy, and shot two beams out as she made two karate-chop motions through the air. They hit the guards head on, and sent them flying away from her. Komi smirked and blew the smoke off one of her hands as she walked past the two unconscious guards. They appeared to still be alive. She hid behind a corner and looked around it, only to find there was nobody there. In fact, besides the two guards, the facility was empty.
"Of course, they're all dealing with the attack." She said. She chuckled to herself as she sauntered through the halls, completely unhindered by any more guards. Eventually, she found the headquarters, where she had met up with the Jaegers only a day ago. She could see hew sword lying on a table and grabbed it. But next to it, she saw a cell phone. And upon closer inspection, it was her own cell phone. She grabbed it and almost instinctively turned it on. The lock screen was a selfie, with herself and Zilla. She had taken it a month ago, while the two were celebrating their 1 year anniversary. A smile spread across her lips. But just as the pleasant thoughts formed, she shook them away.
"No... I can't think about him. Not right now." She muttered. She placed the phone down. She wouldn't need it anymore. She placed the sword in its sheath and slung it over her shoulder, and ran out the door.

Back outside, Godzilla and the others were making progress with the parasites. Things were going extremely well. But the waves of parasites seemed to be never ending.
"At this rate, we're gonna be here forever." Godzilla muttered to himself. But suddenly, he heard something. It was a shout of pain. Not from being scratched or bitten, but this sounded like a genuine pained shout. A dying scream. Godzilla's eyes widened. He ran over to where he heard the scream coming from. To his horror, he saw exactly who he didn't want to see. Komodithrax had just stabbed a soldier and killed him. He wasn't sure how she got out. He wasn't sure why she was doing this. But he didn't care. All he knew was that he had to stop this, and he had to stop it now.
"No!!!" He shouted, tackling her to the ground. She seemed to have expected this, and positioned her feet against his chest, kicking her off of her. He landed on his back, but quickly got back up, only to see Komi slitting the throat of another soldier. He ran over to her and grabbed her wrist.
"If you keep this up, Gypsy will kill you!" He threatened. "You have to stop this now!"
Komi growled and slashed her sword across Godzilla's chest. He fell to the ground, feeling the wound Komi had given him. It was deep. Any deeper and she would have damaged his heart; the one organ he couldn't heal. She was attacking to kill. He quickly got back up and ran over to her. He planned on getting her to stop, but he suddenly noticed, they had gotten some attention from the other soldiers, and the Jaegers.
"She got out!?" Gypsy shouted. This alerted Gojirin. She gasped as she saw her daughter slaughter a group of soldiers. She quickly turned to Gypsy.
"Please, wait for one second. I have a plan." She begged.
"I'm sorry, Gojirin. She's killed some of my men already." Gypsy said. "I have no choice."
"Don't do this!" She pleaded, grabbing his arm. Suddenly, soldiers grabbed her and held her back. While she kicked and writhed, trying to get free, Gypsy turned to Cherno.
"Shoot to kill." He commanded. Cherno nodded, and raised her AK 47. Godzilla saw the gun and gasped. He quickly realized what was about to happen, just as Cherno pulled the trigger. He made a split decision, and jumped. The commotion alerted Komi as well, and she turned to see a bullet speeding towards her. Her eyes widened. It was coming straight for her. When it hit she would be dead. But that didn't happen. The bullet hit something, but not Komi.
