Chapter 18: Switched

6:18 P.M.
Monday Afternoon
Alleyway

Bonnie stood with the bat on her shoulders while Beats sat on the ground with a bruise on his left cheek. Beats gritted his teeth while Bonnie smiled extremely hard showing her teeth which were now sharp like fangs.

This is for the best. After she takes control of my body, Bonnie will be safe.

"Well after I have your body in my pocession, I'm going to turn your life into a living nightmare." cackled Bonnie while dropping her bat to the ground.

Beats looked depressed when he sighed.

"That's fine by me. As long as Bonnie is safe and out of harms way . . . then it's fine by me."

Bonnie smiled when he chuckled.

"Whatever you say demon Hunter, I'll be taking your body now."

Bonnie's bloodshot eyes faded back to normal causing her to fall backwards onto the ground, due to her being unconscious. Beats fidgeted a bit before his eyes were tainted red, confirming that Lust had taken over. Beats stood up with an evil grin on his face as he cackled.

"Hmm, I really socked you good huh? No matter, so I wonder what we should do first. Any ideas?"

You don't even realize how I've trapped you in a corner have you?

Beats gasped when he looked up to see Zach picking up Bonnie onto his shoulder, and in his free hand was a black cat. Zach looked scared when he held back tears as he advised.

"I really hope you know what you're doing Beats!"

Beats fumed when he took a step forward but suddenly his right arm released a powerful shock of electricity. His entire arm was being shot up by bolts of electricity which him unable to move. Beats and Lust' screams merged into one after awhile then chi's right eye turned white.

Zach carefully layed down the cat before running away out of sight, while Beats was weakling standing with smoke emitting from his limp arm.

"Ungh! Are you an idiot?! Had you kept going then you would've killed yourself!"

Beats was finding the strength to move his temporarily paralyzed fingers as he groaned in agonizing pain.

"I know, that's the point. But you'll die too."

"Heh, have you lost your goddamn mind? I'll just switc-."

"Look around Lust! There's no one but us two in this alleyway! And I won't let you step out towards the public."

The left side of Beats' face looked worried as his right hand pulled out a pocket knife, his left hand grabbed his wrist. Beats then underwent a struggle with himself until his entire body shocked himself. The intensity of the electricity was greater this time, forcing Beats on his knees.

"W-Wait, you're not that crazy right? I mean honestly you could just kill you dumb girlfriend inst-."

Beats struggled to press the knife up to his neck slowly causing blood to trickle down due to pressing the blade into his skin. He groaned as his hand was shaky.

"You can switch though Lust, look right in front of you."

Beats looked straight ahead to see the cat that Zach had layed down was still on the ground not moving, a few feet away from him.

"Oh was my theory wrong? Can you only possess human bodies or will this be your lucky break? Either way the clock is ticking Lust."

Beats abruptly pulled the knife away from his neck only to stab himself on the stomach, causing his pupils to shrink. Blood oozed out of his mouth before Lust took the chance and made the switch.

The cat's eyes turned bloodshot red while Beats was on death's doorstep with cold, empty eyes. This cat's soul is feint but it's enough to switch over to. I'll retreat for now and find a suitable vessel to kill this brat, and I-.

The cat tried to rise up but it immediately fell down not even rising an inch, confused Lust observed the feline's vessel. Her heart thumped loudly when she realized all the cat's legs had been broken severely. That's why it didn't run away, because it can't!

Beats was shaking when he coughed up more blood.

"It seems you finally understand, I went through some extremely lengths to make sure you died today. That cat was a stray near my house and I broke each of it's legs, one by one. Do you know?"

Beats looked insane when he continued his question.

"Do you know how hard it was to watch it suffer? For no reason but because of my inability to kill you myself. I even brought Zach into this, I feel awful with myself. But I'm just filled with selfish desires."

Beats weakly aiming his finger at the cat like a gun, terrifying Lust who could only watch in suspense.

"You told me I couldn't kill a Devil Spirit, I'm about to prove you wrong." whispered Beats who began charging up electricity around his hand.

Beats fired a bolt of yellow electricity from his fingertip, shocking Lust's entire nervous system. The cat was being brutally electrocuted until it eventually died, also killing Lust who cursed Beats' name while doing so. The cat's eyes faded back to normal, before falling dead.

Beats lowered his smoking finger before falling on his side where he began to black out due to the knife still being inside him. Looks like all that adrenaline finally wore off. Shit, this hurts. Everything does. The camera was set in Beats perspective as it began to black out as he weakly held out his hand.
