Dagen woke up to commotions going on upstairs he rubbed his eyes and groaned feeling the hunger build up in his stomach again. He grabs his pillow and put over his ears trying to fall back to sleep when someone knocks on his door.

"What is it?!" He shouted looking at the door

"it's me Felix" he stuttered out.

Dagen could already picture Felix picking at his sweater paws thing whatever you would call it. he got up and walked over opening his door. "Yeah Felix?"

"Morning it's time for you to get ready for your day with Atticus and Me" he hands him folded up clothes

"And you? Its daytime isn't it?" He asks slowly taking the clothes

"Yes, but unlike Vampire folklore you grew up hearing I can walk outside I just can't let the Sun hit me I have an umbrella it's black, but I let Marlowe and Juniper paint ducks on it"

"Ducks?"

"it's my favorite Animal" He smiled

"Okay just let me get dress and stuff" Dagen closed his door behind him as Felix moved out of the way letting Dagen go to the bathroom

Once Dagen steps foot in the bathroom he looks in the mirror his hair a mess his eyes tired. Suddenly he was back covered in the hunter's blood in the dirty gas stations bathroom. His mothers' body the gun shot that took down his dad flashing through his memories.

"This can't happen again this isn't happening" He whispered to himself shaking his head as he closes his eyes not opening them until a knock on the door startled him.

"Were you talking to me Dagen?"

"No uh I was just talking to myself it's fine" he said collecting himself and getting changed before fixing his hair and opening the door to see a worried looking Felix.

"I'm fine really let's not keep Atticus waiting" with that Felix nodded and lead Dagen upstairs.

Atticus was sitting at the Island reading a book the girls were nowhere to be seen.

"Here's breakfast" he said as he slid the plate to his side where the boys could see it. the plate had two grilled cheeses on it "there's juice in the fridge Dagen"

"I can grab that I have to get my blood out anyway" Felix replied already at the fridge grabbing out a container of what looked like fruit punch Kool-Aid but Dagen knew it was not.

Once Felix poured his glass he asked "What juice would you like? We have Orange or Apple?"

"Apple is fine" he says as he takes a grilled cheese and sits down beside Atticus

Felix hands him cup of apple before grabbing his cup of blood and grilled cheese. They both ate breakfast quietly, Dagen's stomach still not satisfied by the fact he hasn't eaten human flesh yet. It's gotten to the point where he felt sick every time, he took a bite of the sandwich, but he couldn't not finish it that was just rude right?

Once they were done Atticus held the door open for Dagen and Felix who as soon as they stepped outside, he opened his umbrella which did have painted yellow ducks on them. Atticus walked down the steps Dagen and Felix following him.

"So today I'll will be letting you know the rules of Tulum" Atticus spoke as he walked

"Rules?" Dagen questioned "this place has rules?"

"yes. We must have Rules because without them it would just be chaos. So, Nero thinks..."

"What are they?"

"We don't hurt our kind; we don't speak of this place to any normal and you listen to Nero he's in charge and he's doing this for everyone's safety."

"Don't forget we have to do our part." Felix spoke up

"Our part?"

"Yes, our part. We all have a job to do. The girls, for example, are working. Juniper and Marlowe help at the little makeshift hospital and Calliope helps train other little werewolves to control their shifts."

"what are yours and Felix's job?"

"I'm retired and Felix here just helps me around the house."

"How did he get lucky?"

"Long story. Anyway, your job will be at the Docks where you will be helping getting supplies in, but you won't start until Monday."

"Go me...." Dagen said sarcastically

"At least he's excited about it." Felix said with a smile adjusting his umbrella

Atticus shook his head and continued to walk showing Dagen where everything was. There was a school, the makeshift hospital, a little general store, the docks where he will be unloading boats, and many houses where families lived. Dagen realized that this was no camp that this was a permanent place for them to stay away from the hunters and he felt relieved because at least he wouldn't have to worry about running for his life anymore. Maybe he could make somewhat of a life here. At least for his parent's sake he would try.
