I couldn't be bothered to argue. I knew if I resisted, Lucy may very well kill me. If I tried running once we were back, they'd just find me again, and they'd kill me. Either way, I was going to die.

I nodded, not having the energy after the day I've had to even care about leaving my life behind. Lucy only sighed from across the table, but it was more a sigh of relief than one of guilt.

"I'll send Dominic in shortly. Now once you get everything from home you'll be staying with someone you've already met. They'll explain how this will work once you arrive."

I was exhausted, and honestly the idea of going out and about pissed me off.

"I'm really not trying to sound rude, but I'd rather not." Lucy looked at me with raised brows as I continued. "After the day I've had can I please just sleep. I will gladly do what you want tomorrow but right now I'm exhausted and I need to sleep."

Hearing that I wasn't rejecting her plan, Lucy curtly nodded to me. "I can understand that. But no funny business, I'm guessing you get the fact that I will not hesitate to kill you. It's not that I need you really, so don't for a second think I do."

I hadn't planned on trying to escape, because really what did I have to go home to? A trashed house with a smashed police car in the driveway? That'll be fun to explain to the neighbors.

Soon Lucy left without another word, our agreement set in place. I had quite literally just made a deal with the devil, and I was hoping I wouldn't regret it.

Dominic had allowed me to not wear that damned blindfold. I guess there was no use now, as this is where I'd be living. The buildings were much like those found in Chicago. Tall, dark, ominous beings that sprung from the ground and towered above.

It had to be around seven in the morning by now. In this place though, no light was found besides the dimly lit oil lamps that lined every street.

We soon arrived in front of one of the buildings, and instead of stepping into the building and using the elevator, Dominic grabbed me quickly while wings shot out of his back and lifted us to the top of the structure.

I gasped out a breath I didn't realize I was holding as we landed on the balcony outside of a room. Dominic turned toward the door and the wings, once protruding from his back, had shrunk back down as if never existing at all.

Following behind him, I stepped into the large room and looked around. Two of the enormous walls were made of only windows, much like the office I had been in moments ago. The wood floor was stained a deep red, and the black walls and white furniture had complimented it nicely. Not a single rug was found, not even a door mat.

I found myself wondering what animal wouldn't want warm, fuzzy carpet beneath their feet. I loved feeling the plush fabric beneath me, but I realized I wouldn't have that luxury if I would be staying here. There was a staircase off to the side, which is where we were headed.

"Decker!" Dominic yelled up the stairs. Wait wasn't that...

"Kason?" I whispered as the man came to stand at the top of the stairs. His eyes widened when I spoke.

"What the hell are you doing here?" He asked, shock etched into every feature.

"Something about going to a bar I wasn't allowed into. I'm not sure." I sighed, although Lucy had explained much of what I had experienced, I was tired beyond belief and really just wanted to sleep.

Dominic stood off to the side as Kason and I continued talking.

"So she's to stay here then? What happened to the apartments made for this exact reason?" Kason huffed as he looked at Dominic.
