IN THE BASEMENT at Mike's place, the group of five passed around chocolate bars, gummys, lollipops and even bags of chips around until eventually they all got full and sick of the same old texture of Laffy Taffy or 3 Musketeers.

"I'm gonna go home." Max said and got up, gesturing for Lucas who quickly got up, grabbing her hand. "Me too." Dustin got up and Mike looked at Logan expectantly but the boy didn't budge but rather kept sucking on his red lollipop.

Max and Lucas left with Dustin and Mike picked up all of the empty Coca-Cola and 7-Up cans, throwing them into the trash bin. "Hey, I'm not done," Logan said as they both reached out for the same can, their hands brushing very briefly.

Mike pulled his back right away, "sorry.." He said and then set the trash bin down before walking over and sitting onto the couch next to Logan. It felt similar but it was odd, because it was a stranger. "Uh.. if I ask you a question, will you get mad and tell me to leave?" Logan asked, looking at Mike.

"Depends.." Mike simply said, crossing his arms and Logan pursed his lips. "Who are..." He paused and thought about it for a moment. "Who are Will and El?" He asked and Mike looked away. Mike looked like he was thinking about it.

"You don't have to—" "Will is my best friend.." Mike looked at Logan who nods. "Cool.. I-I had a best friend too.. Willow but I moved away." He says with a soft smile. "Uh.. El is my ex girlfriend." He says and Logan just nods, smiling more.

"Was she pretty?"

Mike nodded softly, smiling more. "Beautiful.." He says and Logan looks away, his smile fading slowly. "And Will?" He asked as he reached out, grabbing another Kitkat bar off his stash of candy.

"We knew each other our whole lives.. it's hard that he moved away, especially El." He says and Logan nods before looking at him. "I know how you feel, you know.. I-I actually didn't want to be friends with you guys, I didn't want you guys to replace Willow and my other friends. But you guys are cool and if you're not okay with it, I'm fine with leaving the group and leaving you guys alone.. That's if it's what you want." He said before breaking the Kitkat bar off and holding a piece out towards Mike.

"I'm fine with either.." He shrugs and Mike carefully took the piece from him. "I guess.. I overreacted. In a way. I did the same with Max." He shrugs and Logan nods, looking away. "I would've done the same in your position.." He says and Mike looks at him. "Uh.. Logan?" He says and the boy glanced over his shoulder, looking at Mike.

"Where did you move here from?" He asked and Logan glanced away. "New York. I lived in Queens with my parents and.. it wasn't their ideal family setting.. I guess." He shrugs but he knows deep down what drove them away and why.

"Oh.. Okay." Mike glanced away and Logan looked at him again. "So.. are you gonna see Will and El again?" He asked as he leaned back and Mike nodded right away. "I might see them for Thanksgiving. And Christmas. If not, I'll be miserable." He says and Logan chuckles. "Yeah, I was thinking of just going to New York for Thanksgiving but.. I don't think Willow or my other friends will wanna see me again." He said as he looked away, sadly.

"I'm suppose to go and visit them but maybe they can and you'll be able to meet them." Mike said with a small smile and Logan shrugs. "Maybe.." He says and Mike stared at him for a minute.

"Are you gonna be a bad influence on us? Because Max is already swearing and we never heard her swear before." He said and Logan chuckles, putting his arm on the couch, behind Mike. "No, no, no, I don't influence people, Mike." He shook his head and the smaller boy just squints his eyes.

"Okay.." He said but sounded unsure. Stupid. If I were a bad influence, I wouldn't have told you, thought Logan as he looks around the basement. It was kind of nice down here and private. Mike locks the door when he and his friends were down here, meaning it was locked right now.

Logan reached into his pocket with a small mischievous grin on his face that made goosebumps form on Mike's skin. He watched Logan carefully like he was expecting him to take out a knife but the boy took out a red and white box with a zippo lighter. "Cigarettes? Really?" Mike says.

"Yeah.. wanna try?" Logan said as he took out a cigarette to set between his lips. "See? Bad influence." He says and Logan shrugs. "Not forcing you." He says before lighting the cigarette up. He starts smoking right in front of Mike, in his basement. "I knew you would be trouble." Mike mumbled, getting off the couch and walking away.

"I'm not a bad influence for smoking and saying whatever the fuck I want.." He shrugs and Mike turns around. "No. You are." He nodded right away and Logan shrugs, shaking his head. "Sorry not everyone gets to be a perfect fucking child like you with a two story home and his own basement. Face it, Mike, you're just a brat who can't handle change." He said and it must've hurt Mike.

Because his glare softened and there was that look in his eyes that made Logan feel guilty right away. But the glare came back as quick as it went away and he angrily spoke, "get out." Logan raised his eyebrows, "what?" He said, taken back by such a reaction from him. But he really can't be so surprised, he was pushing him and with the way he acts, Mike obviously didn't react well to the truth.

It was brutal but the truth always was. "I said get the fuck out of my basement! I don't want you in our party or anywhere near the party! Get out!" Mike raised his voice, panting softly.

Logan left, obviously through the side door and started walking home. Mike felt like chasing after him at first, but for what? An asshole like him? He smoked, he wore shit like chains and probably had only curse words in his vocabulary.

Mike ended up crying instead as he laid on the couch, hugging a pillow tightly to his chest. He must have fallen asleep before suddenly the sun peering in through the blinds woke him.

authors note ooh angst.
i hope i really did write mike's character well? i kinda am worried i didn't? but i think the opening up part and shutting logan off completely seemed right, especially his reaction to what he said. i hope i'm not overthinking this. lol.
