THE NEXT few weeks of January, Logan spent with the party, as usual but would sometimes not be able to go to certain things because he would have a date with that diner girl. Oh... Boy. Maria. He was so right. She was a lot like Mike.
He's learned that in the past three weeks, she loved a lot of dorky things; like Mike. Science, learning, Star Wars and other dorky movies. But he kind of liked it and had no problem with it. She was kind of like his female Mike. He didn't mind it.
At least they can hold hands in public and he can have her over to his place without his parents being total assholes about it. Hell, he invited her over and they let him close and lock the room door. Which he did, but didn't pressure her into anything, they just watched a movie and she left.
It wasn't even until the second week when they kissed. Logan remembers it as clear as day, he was walking her home and when they got there, they kissed under the light at the front door, she held his waist and he held her face gently in his hands to see if it would feel like she was Mike.
She did. She felt so much like Mike. He continued to move his lips in sync with hers, wanting to hold onto that feeling before he pulled back and noticed it wasn't Mike. It wasn't Mike at all. She smiled and just leaned up to peck his cheek gently before walking to the door and going inside.
He walked home alone, thinking of Mike. And he hates it. Three weeks of just going on dates with Maria, holding hands with Maria, watching movies with Maria, holding Maria in his arms and kissing her and yet, she wasn't Mike and that's why he can't stop thinking about him all the time.
He's done those things with Mike, he has held his hand, watched movies with him and held him so close that his scent was all he smelled (he missed that), he has not kissed Mike or went on a date with him but he still prefers that over Maria. Maria who giggles at his jokes, held his hand whenever she knew he wanted to but didn't wanna ask, let him hug her whenever he felt sad, kissed him on the lips or cheek whenever she felt like it.
She isn't Mike and he has to accept that sooner or later. She can probably tell. She probably knows he's not into it but he will do it for his family's sake. At three-thirty on January 31st, a Friday, Logan came home to see Mike on the porch, he sat on the swing with his hands in his pocket as he stared at the ground, he's shivering slightly.
"Hey..." Logan stopped and Mike glanced up. "Hi..." He said and Logan glanced down. "Why are you here?" He asked, confused and Mike stood up. "Sleepovers on Fridays... last week you said you couldn't or the week before, but you can this week." He said and Logan slowly nods.
"Right... come on, follow me. You look cold." He says and Mike sighs, following Logan into the home. Logan rushed taking off his boots and hanging up his jacket as Mike did the same. Logan grabs the blanket off the couch which he walked back to Mike with, wrapping the boy up in it.
"Better?" He asked as he rubs Mike's arms to warm him up more and Mike nodded, smiling at Logan. "Better..." He says and Logan smiled. "Come on... you hungry?" He asked and Mike nods.
In the kitchen, Logan ended up making macaroni and cheese, which Mike was so down for. "How did you learn to make it?" Mike asked, seated on the counter since Logan told him to sit but didn't really wanna leave Logan's side. "My grandma in New York. She lived across the street from us. Sweetest old lady... until she died." Logan said and sighed. Mike frowns, "I'm sorry..."
"Don't be sorry about it." Logan said, touching Mike's knee then gently squeezing before turning and walking over to the cupboards where the bowls were. Mike was left there, a blushing mess as he smiled and bit the inside of his cheek to try and stop himself from smiling so much.
Logan walked back over with two bowls, setting them down to separate the pasta into the bowls and when he did, he held one out to Mike who took it right away. "Thank you, Chef Simmons." He says with a teasing tone and a small smile. Logan just chuckled, holding out two spoons, one of which Mike took before they went to sit down together at the table to eat the macaroni and cheese.
After eating their food, the two went into Logan's room where they watch a movie again, laying on their stomachs and facing the tv at the end of the bed. Logan had her hands holding up his face as Mike had his chin buried into a pillow, staring at the television screen with a blank face.
"We have watched a lot of movies..." Logan started and Mike sighed. "This has got to be the most boring one... ever." He mumbled and Logan agreed, turning down the volume and moving to lay on his back. Mike did the same, sighing.
Logan looks at Mike and the boy was staring at the ceiling, his lips sort of pursed before he let them go. Logan thought he was so pretty; beautiful even. When the crease in his eyebrows was gone, when he let his mouth relax the way it did and just laid there, relaxing. Logan liked looking at Mike. But would pretend he wasn't when Mike looked at him. "I saw you staring..." Mike mumbled.
"Sorry, I was being creepy..." Logan said, his cheeks felt hot and he was embarrassed. "No. It's cute." Mike said and even moved closer, his chin resting onto Logan's shoulder. The boy stayed still, just liking the feeling of Mike being so close to him. Mike sighed and moved so he can rest his head onto Logan's chest now. Logan wrapped his arm around Mike's shoulders, blushing hard.
Mike closed his eyes and nearly fell asleep like that, still swaddled up in the blanket Logan wrapped around him as he rested his head comfortably on Logan. But then Logan heard the front door and panicked, sitting up. Mike slowly moved away, moving to sit at the end of the bed instead of Logan went to sit at his desk, taking out a binder and a couple of papers to scatter.
"What are you—" The door opened and Mike looked over to see Elizabeth. She didn't like him much so he looked away right away, looking at Logan who looked at his mom. "Hey mom... Mike is over to study and do homework... is that okay?" He asked and she glanced between them.
"Yeah... but be sure to finish by six. We're having a couple of people over... A special guest." She said with a stupid grin on her face and he just nodded, scratching the back of his neck.
"Cool..." He says and Elizabeth looks at Mike. "Uh, you're still welcome to join... if you want to, of course." She said and he nods, just glancing for a second at him before looking away.
