Chapter 16: Snakes and Spiders

          I woke up nice and early. It was barely 5:30am, breakfast wouldn't start for another two hours and thirty minutes.
      
       I climbed down from my chambers after getting ready for the day and waved my hand over the entrance to seal it. The corridors were quiet even most of the portraits were still asleep. 
        
      As I patrolled my route around the school I couldn't help but think about Lucius, he hadn't said anything when he left. I would have to send him a letter later.
         As I  turned the corner I ran into a small body which in turn fell on the floor. It happened to be Harry. I tilted my head curiously. "Why may I ask are up this early?" He nervously scratched his head as he looked down. "Sorry Professor. I couldn't sleep and I decided to go to the library." I rose an eyebrow, "Are you lying to me?"
        He looked to the side awkwardly, "Ill just pretend that you said no. Now run along." He smiled thankfully and ran off to his common room. I sighed as I turned around to continue the rest of my route.
        Very slowly as time went on more students started waking up and heading to the great hall. After I finished, I headed into the great hall as well.
         I sat quietly watching over the kids as I chewed on a peice of bacon. Not very many students were up yet as its only been an hour and a half. I couldnt help but smile as Severus entered the room, his cloak flowing behind him.
      He side smirked as he sat. "You look like you've been up for a while, sleep well?" I nodded with a smile as I chewed on some toast, swallowing it quickly. "Yes I did actually. And yourself?" He shrugged dismissively, "As well as expected," I shook my head at him, "You better start taking care of yourself Sev," he tensed at the nickname for a second.
      Noticing my mistake I put my hand on his hand that rested on his leg, "I'm sorry Severus," he smiled softly my way but as soon as it was there, it was gone. As the students started filling up the great hall and all the other teachers started taking their seats.
         Since I had finished eating I watched over the students as everyone contiuned eating. My eyes slowly hovered over Harry who seemed a bit stressed as he quietly picked at his food, he muttered one or two words to the his friends that sat next to him.  
His eyes met mine for a split second almost pleading, I gestured to the doors letting him know I would meet with him after breakfast. He nodded as he looked back down at his food but didn't really eat any more.

      After breakfast was done I told Severus I had to leave and he responded with a short nod and a, "Have a good day," I stood quietly and left out the side door but made it to the entrance to the great hall on time to meet with Harry.
    His eyes darted left to right until I lightly touched his shoulder. He spun around, "Oh Proffesor, you startled me," I Smiled slightly, "Sorry Harry, I can't help how quietly I walk, any how, would you like to speak here or in private?" his looked around nervously, as he saw some of the professors were lingering around the hallways, "In private please, if you don't mind, Professor Peak," I nodded as I waved him to follow me to my chambers. As we walked, his fidgeting became constant, his eyes darting around like he was seeing ghosts.

        Once we made it to my chambers we climbed up the ladder and walked to the table sat in front of the window. "So tell me what's bothering you." he looked down at his shoes and sighed, "Professor, if I tell you, can you please promise me that it'll stay between us, at least for now." I nodded, "Of course Harry, You can trust me I promise," he nodded as he inhaled, " Well, you have heard that I can talk to snakes, right," I nodded, "Well, Lately, I've been hearing this voice in the walls, it sounds like something, Evil." I furrowed my eyebrows, "Hmm, before I came here, I was told that there have been, attacks on some muggle born students, is that true?" he nodded in haste, "Yes Ma'am, a third student, my friend Hermione, was attacked about a week ago, all of them have been paralyzed." I nodded, "Have you tried to follow that voice?" he shrugged, "Tried, but every time I do, I end up finding the students, that's why everyone thought it was me, cept' 'Mione" I giggled slightly, "Mr. Potter, I do believe you couldn't even hurt a fly, let alone a classmate." He smiled softly, "Thanks Professor, Good to know I don't look like a murderer." I nodded, "Well, since you trusted me with your secret, I think it fare if I trust you with mine." He looked at me confused, "What do you mean Professor," I smiled as I crossed my legs, "You see I was attacked not to long ago by a Vampire, and he bit me." he gasped lightly, "Did you tell Professor Dumbledore?" I nodded, "Yes, he knows that I am Half Vampire, and I have a Familiar named Prince, he's a wolf." He smiled in awe, "That's incredible!," I laughed, "Well I wouldn't say that, but it is a secret, and you have to promise to keep a secret." He nodded with a smile, "Of course Professor, you're secret is safe with me." I stood up and nodded, "I believe you, now lets get you back to your class before it gets to late," He jumped up from the chair and climbed down the ladder quickly,     After I sealed up the passage, I turned to him, "Which class do you have this time?" he sighed softly, "Potions, with Professor Snape," I nodded as we started walking down the hallway. After a few minutes, we finally made it to Severus's class. I knocked on the door before opening it gently. Potter hurried to his seat as i walked up to Sev's desk. "Please excuse Mr. Potter Professor Snape, I held him back, I needed to speak with him," Sev nodded courtly, very well Ms. Peak" I smiled at him then walked out closing the door softly.

             I needed to find out what was going on. I'm starting to get a bad feeling. I can't let anything happen to anymore students. Not on my life.
