"Zoe? Zoe! Wake up! It's lunch already!" Someone was shaking my shoulders, and that someone was Caleb. "huh? Oh. Did I fall asleep in history? I'm sorry, I'm just superbly hungover right now. I can't even see properly." I reply, groaning as the world comes into view.
"Well maybe if you weren't such a smartass and decided not to wear sunglasses in a dark classroom and not drink your week away, you wouldn't be in this situation. Let's go. Now!" He says, the sarcasm just oozing out of his voice. I frown and get up, ready for another comeback but then leave it.
He's right, you know? You decided to drink instead of facing someone. You're so petty and immature Zoe. You're such a child. You're turning into a drunk. Stop wasting your life away.
That was the voice in my head. I shouldn't listen to it, though, should I? I mean, isn't hearing voices in my head is just another reason why I should continue drinking? "Ugh! I hate this. I hate school. Can we go home already?" I whine to Caleb.
"No Zoe. We can go out for lunch though. Let's just get my car keys from Andy, okay?" He rolls his eyes and says. "Fine."
We walk to the cafeteria in silence, both of us engrossed in our thoughts. The cafeteria was full of people pointing and talking about me. They didn't even bother hiding it, like they used to. I'm too insignificant..? now? Oh well, okay. It doesn't matter what they think.
Caleb puts his hands around my waist and guides me to our table, where Andy is sitting with him and happily chatting with him. I clear my throat and Andy look up at me, instantly creasing her eyebrows and wiping away the happy smile. "Well okay. Can we have caleb's car keys Andy? It's important. I need me some tacos." I say, smiling a smile so fakely sweet it still would've given her diabetes.
"Umm... sure. Just a second, can I talk to the two of you?" She smiles back just as sweetly.
"Yeah." Caleb turns us around when she says, "not you two, him and her. Just for two minutes."
