Quick recap (for those who skipped the last chapter): Julian and Zoe have a steamy make out session and do some other stuff (they DON'T have sex) when Zoe gets a call from an unknown number that she thinks she knows:
"wha-? Ry, wake up! your phone's ringing.. hey, wake up, babygirl." I feel him shaking my shoulders.
"Okay, okay, okay! I'm up." I grab my phone from the nightstand and accept the call without looking at it.
Zoe: Hello?
Unknown: Zoe Midnight. Well well well, what a turn of events. I'm not surprised you're on his speed dial. It's so obvious now, don't know why I didn't think of it before. He's smart, I'll give him that.
------------------------------------
The voice sent shivers down my back, and I couldn't help but think that I knew something about this person.
Zoe: Huh? Who is this? And what are you talking about?
Unknown: Tsk tsk Zoe. It's not good to forget who your brother's friend's are, but it's even worse when you forget who caused his death.
A chill made its way through my body as I remembered.
Zoe: You. I sneered. You don't get to call yourself his friend. You were never his friend. Not after what you did.
Unknown: Ah, little Zoe... still such a child. Haven't you learnt anything from last time? You don't mess with me. Zane learnt his lesson, and I hope I don't have to teach that lesson again to Julian, or who was it...? Yeah, Caleb. They would do well to know me. I'm sure Julian remembers me. Tell him I remember him and that Maria says hi.
Zoe: You... stop. Why are you doing this? You got what you wanted, didn't you? Can't you just leave us alone?
Unknown: No, princess I can't. Why would I, when I didn't get what I really wanted? I get what I want, however I want it, and I want you, princess. Resisting me will just hurt everyone else.
Zoe: Never. You-you vile creature! Stay away from all of us.
I hang up angrily before throwing the phone onto the bed.
"Fuck! Stupid dumbfucking bastard. That little bit-"
"Ry? Hey baby? What's wrong? Who was that? Who do I need to beat up?" He asks, his face a mask of concern, frowning cutely.
"Guess who? Nixon fuckin' Nichols" I spat out, and he turned almost white, with fear or rage I didn't know.
"What the fuck was he doing calling you? How does he have your number Zoe?? Why did you even talk to that murdering motherfucking little son of a bitch?!" He yells loudly, pacing about the room with his hands fisted.
"Ian! Please, calm down. We have to make decisions rationally. We need to think. This isn't the time to just-" I scramble to the edge of the bed as his glare makes its way to my face, watching him cautiously.
"Just what, Zoe?! He ruined our lives! He killed Zane, and he killed dad! He's a fuckin' murderer, and you want me to just sit about and do nothing but think and plan with you?! I'm not a wimp like you.. I'm gonna kill him, slowly-" He's shaking now, with this crazed look in his eyes.
The door creeks open then, revealing a fuming Cat. Fuck.
"Julian. Jacob. Camaro! You better stop shouting this house down with your crude obscenities. And if you're planning on killing someone, maybe don't tell the whole freaking world so you're not actually caught or arrested." Cat says stiffly, glaring at Ian.
Ian glares back at her childishly, before slumping down on the bed and curling up. Cat just turns around and rushes back down, mumbling something about how she could barely manage Jules. I huff and turn around to see that Ian is asleep again. Laughing, I donn my t-shirt and Caleb's checkered shirt before grabbing Ian's blue t-shirt and making my way downstairs.
"Hey Zoe! How was school?" Cat's voice rung out, and I turned around to look at her.
"Good." I shrug, not knowing what to say.
"Is that boy of mine treating you well now?" She asked me, a smirk gracing her face. I could totally see the resemblance between Ian and Cat right now.
"Wait- how did you..?" I ask, a hand flying to my mouth.
"I'm his mom Zoe, and your godmother. Also, you were practically half naked in his bedroom. Did you really think I wouldn't figure out?" She laughed loudly, before getting back to stirring the food inside the pot.
"Oh, uh... I-I should probably head back home now. Nice seeing you Cat. Come over sometime, when Mom's home, she'd love to catch up." I blushed, before waving goodbye to her and walking over to my house.
