No one's POV:

The Soul of Cinder. What was he? That was easy. He was the souls of all the lords of cinder before him. He was, in essence, the will of the first flame. That was what people thought. That was what the legends told. They were nought but lies. Tales told to the undead so that they would find slaying him a triumph. The reality was much harsher. The soul of cinder was, in fact, just another man. True, a man who had slain gods, but a man nonetheless.

So why was he sought to be slain? Why did people think that he was more than a man could ever hope to be? The answer might surprise you. It was all because he was just a little more determined than others to link the first flame, that's all he had been and all he will ever be.

An Undead. A weak little undead. One who was now being slain by the next in line to link the flame after him. In all honesty, the soul of cinder was fighting half-heartedly. He was ready to lay down and die. He wanted to escape this prison. And finally, here was his chance.

The undead before him, the ashen one, finally delivered the final blow. And the Soul of Cinder collapsed to his knees. Finally, That was the last thought of the Soul of Cinder... At least, it was in this world.

SoC's POV:

Finally, I thought as the ashen one delivered the final blow.  I fell to my knees, the wounds I had sustained throughout our long and arduous battle crippling me. Slowly, my body began to fade and all went black. I was staring into an endless abyss of nothing. I was dead. After centuries of living, fighting, dying the repeating, I was finally dead. I had served my duty and I had done it well. Now I could rest. Rest for eternity. I closed my eyes, not looking at the infinite darkness before me, and fell into a calm slumber as I floated through this dark, calming place.

No one's POV:

There was a large, lush forest with birds singing and animals wandering. It was incredibly peaceful. And over yonder of the forest, in the middle of a flat plain laid a man. This was no ordinary man. He was wearing what seemed to be warped, burning armour that resembled that of knights. His helmet covered his face, only a thin slit letting the light shine through to his eyes. The back of the helmet seemed to almost resemble a badly blackened and distorted crown that had been connected to the helm.

Suddenly, he awoke. His top half sat upright in a quick motion. He looked around himself, seemingly confused as to his whereabouts. He seemed as if he had just awoken from a long slumber that he didn't expect to be disturbed.

SoC's POV:

To say I was confused... was an understatement. I was positively baffled. I remembered battling against the ashen one that had come to link the first flame. I remember fighting only half-heartedly. And I remember being slain, for good. Well, it seemed the last part was false, as here I was, sitting in a lush, green field with my armour on and my long Firelink greatsword at my hip.

I slowly stood up, I noticed my entire body felt rejuvenated even though I had just fought an incredibly long battle with a man that ad set his sights on damning himself to the first flame. Suddenly, I felt thirsty. That was..odd. I hadn't felt thirsty for centuries, the First Flame ensured that. I decided to look for some water and set off from the field towards a green tree line I could see.

Timeskip (who wants to read about a guy walking)

I had walked for quite a while, and to be honest, I was starting to feel dehydrated. This was a very new sensation for me. After all, I had spent hours at a time fighting without breaks and here I was, the most powerful Lord of Cinder, a God Slayer, a man who had killed bloody dragons, about to be defeated by dehydration. When you thought about it, it was pretty ironic. I was the Soul of Cinder, a guy that was a practical walking wold fire, and I was going to be beaten by lack of water. Then I heard it.

the light sound of water flowing. I knew it was nearby and started closing in on the glorious sound. When I found the stream, it looked as beautiful as the sun. I ran towards it and went to drink when I realised I had my helmet on still. I quickly reached up, unclicked it and took it off, I then drank. I drank and drank until I couldn't drink anymore. Even after my thirst was sated, this was something I hadn't experienced for centuries, so I was damn well going to enjoy it.

I eventually stopped and sat back, contentedness filled me. Then I noticed something in front of my eyes. I reached up and grabbed it, realising it was attached to my head. I quickly realised that it was my light grey hair. I was astonished, I thought my hair had been lost many, many, many years ago. Suddenly, A thought occurred to me.

I quickly moved to the water and looked at myself in the reflection. What I saw shocked me so much that I yelled, "BY GWYN'S GREAT WHITE BEARD! I'M HUMAN." I was startled, I slowly looked into the water again, scared it maybe like one of the endless amounts of dreams I had whilst protecting the first flame. I looked down and what I saw made me giddy. In the water was my face, my human face. I had slightly pale skin, my jawline was hard, and where there used to be nothing was now two light yellow eyes. I noticed, however, slightly to my dismay, that I had the face of a teen, perhaps 16-18?

My light grey hair reached down to the top of my ears and was ruffled messily. I was so happy, I was human again. After centuries I was finally human again. I tall seemed surreal to me. My moments of happiness was interrupted, however. A deep growl was coming from behind me and I could feel multiple presences now stalking me.

Slowly I stood and placed my mutilated helm on my head, covering my human face. I turned to the enemies, my presence emanating power. I reached over and drew my long, coiled straight sword and held it pointing down to the ground, my left hand clenched and my body poised for battle.
