MONDAY, THE 11TH OF SEPTEMBER.
real life
Maya stood beside a tree waiting anxiously, she's secured her bike in one of the racks so that it doesn't get stolen, like last time. She looked around nervously and tapped her foot, an impatient personality with nervousness wasn't a good combination at all.
She was waiting for Finn, and even though she was early, she thought he was going to stand her up. It hasn't even hit 2 pm yet, but she came as fast as she could after getting ready.
And, even if the boy stands her up, she wouldn't blame him. Why would he want to meet her anyway? She glimpsed around to see kids running, parents chatting, and teenagers walking.
Maya took a deep breath so it doesn't result in
an anxiety attack on top of all of it. People started looking at her, standing alone while leaning on a tree. She hid her face in her hands out of embarrassment, then removed them and placed one hand, the index finger and thumb spread out on her forehead and tried to hide her face with it as she looked on the floor.
But it was sudden when she felt a hand wrapped around her wrist, she thought it was some guy picking on her trying to flirt with her or something, but when she removed her hand from her face, she saw him.
God, he was so much beautifuler in person.
She licked her dry lips, looking at him. Curly headed short hair that was recently cut, brown chocolatey eyes and freckles spread out on his face which looked just like constellations. The corner of his mouth rose up into a smirk before the smile was formed.
"Uh.. hi.." She awkwardly muttered, and afterwards realizing how low her voice was because of how close they were. And, damn, he was so tall.
"Hi." He smiled, feeling not-so-awkward as her, since he's probably been waiting for this moment forever, he imagined it going in many different scenarios.
They stood there, just looking at each other and not muttering a single word. It was so awkward, I'll tell you that. Him glancing over her olive face of green — emerald — eyes and straight light brown hair, her glancing over his pale face of brown — chocolate — eyes and curly, rounded browny black hair.
But, that was before he engulfed her into a surprising hug that she hadn't seen coming, but she wasn't mad about it, nope, not at all. He wrapped his arms around her petite figure, hugging her closer as she leaned her head on his shoulder while hugging.
Finn pulled away, the awkward one this time. Just now realizing her surprised face.
"Sorry, that was.. so random of me, I thought you-"
"No, it's okay. It's.. okay.." Maya said, followed by a chuckle.
"What? What's funny?" He grinned,
"You know, when we were so excited about seeing each other, I thought we'd run and jump on one another like those internet best friend video thingies." She laughed.
"But, now, we're staring at each other in a weird way not even talking." He nodded, understanding what she meant.
"Yeah." She smiled.
"Wanna recreate that then? No videos, just the two of us." He asked, pointing his thumb at the entrance.
"Obviously." She rolled her eyes while laughing as he chuckled, the two of them going separate ways.
Finn walking towards the entrance as Maya walked towards the exit, which all lead to the middle path. The one they were standing at.
She saw him from afar raising his fingers, counting to three. How lucky she was to have worn contacts today, all the time forgetting to wear her glasses.
And when he made a "three." sign, the two of them raced to reach the middle path, Maya winning because of the marathons she used to be forced to attend to adjust her gym class grade.
All her insecurities disappeared for a second when she ran over and suddenly wrapped her arms around the boy who — instinctively — hugged her back by picking her up. They looked like two people that haven't seen each other for a very long time.
They stayed like that for a long time, the two of them not daring to break the hug before Maya cleared her throat and Finn got the message.
"How's that for internet best friend reunion?" He said, going back to their normal stand-poses.
"Well, I'd rate that 8/10." She squinted her eyes dramatically.
"Why? Where did the two go?"
"There wasn't a falling-on-top-of-each-other trope kind of thing." She said.
Finn turned his head, eyes still on her as he looked at her through narrowed eyes. She understood him as she laid back her head chuckling before coming back.
"You want me to fall on top of you." She said.
"Kinky. But, that's not what I exactly meant." He laughed.
"Can we like do something instead of re-meeting and jumping on top of each other?" She said through a giggle.
Finn nodded before walking with her towards the nearest food store the park stood next to.
Their day was full of surprises and surprisingly it went better than she ever expected it. Finn was recognized only one time, which that he was thankful for. He appreciated his fans but it would be great to have a day without getting interrupted many times, it got repetitive all the time, even though he loved meeting his stans.
And he loved it. Thought it would go the opposite.
But, little did they know.
