Bound and Broken: Maya's Story

Chapter Thirty

(Big Time Skip to Wedding Day here)

Kayla's POV:

The wedding was like any other normal one. Except with a few changes. For starters, us pets sat in the balcony on the floor, out of sight but still able to see the Wedding through the glass railing. Two way glass.

Maya's dress looked pretty to me. And expensive. Me and Lilac, as tradition stated, had to go and help her with her dress a day before the wedding. We weren't allowed the privilege of suggesting anything for her but we could look around. Her friends ended up helping while us pets just hung out. The dresses in the store were stupidly expensive and the owner and employees made it clear that if they saw a single diamond missing we'd all pay.

Michael hadn't talked to or had sex with me again since that time almost 2 weeks ago. It was like things went back to normal.

Did I imagine it?

I felt my side get elbowed and snapped out of my daze.

"Are you okay?" Alyssa asked from her spot. We each had assigned spots to sit. I was One, Lilac was Two, Alyssa was Three, and Tiana was Four. There were 4 other pets here but they kept to themselves and seemed to be owned by members of Michael and Maya's family.

Suddenly the music began playing and everyone rushed to stand. From above I heard the doors open and then the click of Maya's heels as she was walked down the isle by her Father. Once they got to the alter he whispered something in her ear before walking away to sit down. She nodded then climbed the alter herself and stood across from a waiting Michael. At first the priest began droning on about legacies and family ties, boring stuff. But then finally, at the his command they held hands and looked each other in the eye.

"Maya. Do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded Husband?" He asked. She hesitated, then gave a smile.

"I do". She said, slipping the ring on his finger. The priest turned to Michael.

"Michael. Do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

"I do"

There was no hesitation. I felt a slight ache in my chest. They were officially married.

"You May now kiss the bride" Maya and Michael let go of each other's hands and kissed. Everyone cheered, including the pets up here with us. Maya was led away to the dressing room and me and Lilac automatically got up to follow her. Once we got there we helped carefully take off the wedding dress and put on her other, less restrictive dress on. After that we were dismissed and allowed to go to the celebration party. Maya ordered me and Lilac to sit at her and Michael's table and gave a waiter an order to get us fruit. Now we were just sitting there eating pineapples and watching people dance, talk, and drink.

"Pretty fun party" Alyssa said, walking over with Tiana. Both were holding cups of water. Since there was only two other chairs at our table they grabbed two more and pulled them over, squeezing in next to us. Lilac rolled her eyes and ignored them.

"Back to being a bitch I guess" Shadow said. I shrugged it off and spent some time talking to them. Maya was talking to some of her family. She looked stressed out and annoyed. She locked eyes with me and I immediately looked away but it was too late. She walked over to our table and fixed me with a heavy stare.

"Come with me." She ordered. I gulped. Shadow sighed.

"Mistress please..I'm so—"

"Don't care. Come on. Now. Or I'm dragging you out." She snapped. I shut my mouth and stood up, handing her my leash. She batted it away and grabbed my hand instead, dragging me away into the bathroom. Locking the door she leaned heavily against it and sighed. Unsure of what to say I walked over and patted her on the shoulder. She flinched at my touch but didn't speak.

"Are you okay?" I asked sheepishly. She chuckled and ran a hand through her hair.

"Nope. I'm not okay. My family is annoying as shit, pressuring me into having children and taking over more parts of the company. On my goddamn wedding day. Business. On someone's wedding day. So exhausting." She explained. I felt kinda bad.

"What an asshole family. Talking business on their own kin's wedding day" Shadow muttered from beside me. I didn't know what to say to either of them.

"Ugh. Let's go home" She said. This time she grabbed my leash. I straightened up and followed her out of the bathroom and towards the door. I paused and she stopped to pull me.

"Mistress..it's your wedding day. Shouldn't you stay?" I tried. She rolled her eyes and dropped my leash.

"No. Get Lilac and let's go. Michael can stay. Hurry up I'm waiting" She snapped. I had no choice but to obey the order so I picked up my leash and went off to the table. Lilac and Alyssa we're having a glaring match when I arrived and Tiana was just eating the fruit.

"Oh hey Kayla. Get your friend here before she gets hurt" Alyssa snapped. Lilac rolled her eyes at her then looked at me.

"You looked like you survived. What happened?" She asked.

"Nothing. Just talked. Mistress wants to leave and wants you to come with us. So. Let's go" I said. She wiped her hands on a napkin and gave Alyssa a side glare before walking past me to go to Maya. I bid them both a goodbye and followed her to the entrance. Maya didn't say anything she just gestured for us to get the door. Once we were out in the parking lot we climbed into the limo and she told the driver to take us home.

(Time Skip)

Maya's POV:

I sent the girls to their room once we got to Michael's house. I only called it home around other people. This wasn't my home. Just a semi-permanent living space.

I'm a married woman now. Maya Moore. Not Maya Redd. His name looks weird on mine.

As family tradition, the woman had to take the man's last name. My damn family and their traditions. Yeah being rich and come from a powerful bloodline is was pretty nice. But a lot of good things have their downfalls.

Maya Moore. The Next in line for the Island CEO position. Is this what I really wanted?
