TW; mention of abuse & suicide

Michael folded his clothes so nicely it sickened me. I pondered how he could sit there and fold them so neatly when he was about to leave me for four years.

Michael Gordon Clifford - perhaps the most perfect human being to walk on this planet. We met at a party almost a year ago and since then he has been like my superhero, I guess. He prevented me from killing myself. He is the one thing in my life that has made me truly happy.

My parents were abusive. I say were because I have not lived in their home for months now. I've been living with Michael and his mom, Karen.

Although a lot of shit has happened since I met Michael, he has brought out the best in me. We will, one day, get married. He has already given me a beautiful promise ring. We will also have a family home to raise two adopted children in.

"Luke, why won't you help me?" He whined, snapping me out of my daze. "I still have a lot of clothes to pack."

"I don't want to help you. If I help you, you'll pack faster, which means you'll be gone faster," I pouted. "Why do you have to go? University is stupid."

He sighed, turning to look at me. "I've explained this to you before. I want to be able to get a good job to support our soon-to-be family, darling. I'm sure you'll survive."

"I know, I know," I frowned, propping up on my elbows to gaze back at him. "You promise that you'll call me every day?"

"I pinky promise," He smiled softly at me, pressing a quick kiss to my forehead. "Now help me finish packing please."

About twenty minutes later, after all I did was remain on the bed and hand him clothes, I watched as he laid the last pair of jeans carefully into his suitcase and zip it up. "That's everything." He peered around his now empty bedroom, the dresser, previously cluttered with over-flowing clothes and papers, was now clean. It was like a big chunk of his life was missing.

"No," I insisted, resting my head in my hands. "You're not going. You can just go to a school over here, can't you?"

Michael shook his head and climbed on top of me. "Baby, this is my dream, you know that. My other dream is to live with you and our kids and be able to give you three the world. I have to achieve this dream before I get to that one."

"I can wait then, if it means one day, you can give me the world."

"No can," He paused, blushing. "I will give you the world, no matter what."

He kissed me, mumbling something incoherent on my lips. I kissed him back, only harder. I didn't want this moment to end. I didn't want us to end.

I'm just so afraid that once he leaves he'll find someone else, someone better.

"Michael! Luke!" Karen called from downstairs. we pulled away and stared at each other sadly.

"Time to go, Lukey."
