Adelaide and I had something. It was undeniable. It was something special that I didn't feel with anyone else. I remember when we first met, in year 11. We hated each other. Yet everyone seemed to push us together for that year. Class projects, seats, and everyone would tell us how we would end up being together and be the "cutest couple of the year" .
Adelaide was the 'new girl', she was assigned to sit next to me I thought she was pretty cute, her hair was parted to the side it was brown with purple at the ends. She had brown eyes. She was pretty. I could tell by the way she walked next to me and avoided eye contact that she didn't really plan on socializing. I decided to talk to her to make her loosen up a little.
"Hey, I'm Elliot." I attempted to start a conversation. She continued as if I didn't exist. I figured she didn't hear me so I jabbed at it again
"Hey, where ya from?" I said getting a tiny bit closer to make sure she heard me. She budged away and turned her back slightly towards me.
RUDE.
I let out a sigh and rolled my eyes, she was pretty but was stuck up.

Adelaide soon became pretty likable. No one had a problem with her. She didn't have a problem with anyone. She liked everyone, and everyone liked her. I, however failed to get the memo on the whole 'Ade likes me I like her' thing. We practically hated each other, always throwing verbal jabs at each other, once in a while she'd smack my upside the head or I would push her back. We sat next to each other in all the classes we had with each other. And that was five classes, five classes every day with her.
"Oh my god Elliot, just kiss her we can feel the sexual tension between you two!" , Cory would say to us
" Dede, you guys are my otp ughh!" I once overheard one of her friends Charissa say to her.
I remember that one because I didn't know what Charissa meant by an otp so I went home and looked it up. It stood for one true pairing.
Girls are weird.
