Eight

I look around the boat as we are sitting out on the deck as the city of Altissia.

"You doing okay nightmare wise?" Ignis asks

"Specs, you know that I would've told you if I was having them again." I say as I look away from the sea "I want you guys to know that you don't have to constantly worry about me. I'll be fine. I always am."

They look at me then start to nod as I look back out towards the sea and they start to talk amongst themselves before they all go off and do their own thing.

I watch as Gladio grabs his book and starts wherever he left off, Prompto grabs his camera and starts to take a lot of pictures of different things, while Ignis is off in his own little world as he stares off towards the sea.

I smile as I look at the three boys that have been my home for the last little while after our home was destroyed and the one other person that made something feel like a home left.

I know something bad is going to happen, I just don't know what it is quite yet. But I want these three to know that I am sorry ahead of time.

I shake the thought out of my head as I look back out and see other boats out in the distance.

"Hey guys, I think that we're just about there," I say

"Looks about that way doesn't it." Ignis says "Alright, let's get ready to get off and meet Luna. We only have a few hours left of daylight before the night becomes permanent."

We all agree as we stand up and go off towards where we have been keeping the bags.

I look around the city as I watch people go about their business. I look towards the boys as they are looking at different street signs.

"I hope you guys realize that I have never been here so I can't lead this part of our trip," I say

"Well, it's a good thing we have maps," Ignis says

"Uhm, guys, isn't that Lady Lunafreya over there by the capital?" Prompto says as he points her out

I look over and see a blonde girl waving us over before she starts to walk over to meet us about halfway.

"Lady Lunafreya," I say as I bow slightly

"Genevieve, you must know that you can call me Luna just like everybody else here does." She says with a laugh "And when I've heard about you, you've only been called Gene."

I look up at her with a small smile as the boys just laugh.

"I haven't heard anything, but Noct isn't here yet. I don't know when they will be here, but I am glad that you guys arrived first. I have a feeling that this will help us in the future." Luna says

"Luna, we need to get out of the public eye if we have any chance of getting him back without people getting suspicious," Gladio says

"Right. Follow that solider up there. He'll bring you to where we will meet. Until then, I need to talk to Gene, if that's alright." Luna says

They all look between us two as I nod and they head towards the mentioned soldier and walk towards the building and Luna motions for me to follow her.

I look around the city as we are walking towards the altar and that's when I see the two pillars.

"This is where you planned on summoning Leviathan," I say as I look around

"I still plan on summoning Leviathan. But it won't be Noctis who speaks with him. It will be you." She says as she looks at me

"Me?" I ask "How is that possible? I'm not even blood related to Noctis and he's the Chosen King."

"But you are the next best thing. I have this feeling that you have to be the one who takes his place if we ever want to get him back." She says "But at this point, you might have to take his place overall. He doesn't seem to be willing to leave Ardyn."

I look at her then down at the water as I take a deep breath before looking back at her.

"That's why I've been getting those dreams. The same ones that Noct was getting before we finally went and talking to the Giant." I say

She looks at me then at her hand before opening her hand to show me the ring of Lucii.

"What is that supposed to do? Only the kings can wear it and harness that power." I start

"I want you to hold on to for if something bad is to happen to me. The King gave me the direct orders to give it to you or Noctis. It has to be one of you two." She says

I look at her before slowly taking it and putting it around the chain on my neck.

"So what's the plan?" I ask

She smiles before explaining to me as we head back to meet with the others.

I look around the city as I see two figures that I thought I wouldn't have been seeing in a long time.

"They beat us here," I say as I point out Gladio and Genevieve

"So they did. That won't change what I have planned at all." He says with a smile

I look at him before I watch Gene as her hand closes around something on her neck and she says something to Gladio.

"I think I'm going to get a better angle and see if I can hear anything they are saying," I say as I start to walk towards them

I quietly follow after them, avoiding as many people as I try to get into earshot.

"You're saying that she gave it to you under the King's orders?" Gladio asks

"I don't know why, but it's almost as if the king knew that Noct would join Ardyn." She says as she looks down at the thing around her neck

"Do you think he could've. Just like how he knew that the treaty signing was a trap." Gladio says as he stops to look at her

"I don't know Gladio. It could be possible. But that still doesn't make sense about why he would instruct Luna to give me the Ring of Lucii." She says as she moves her hand away and I see a glimpse of the ring

"Genevieve, you should probably keep that hidden for the next little bit. At least until we know what's going on." Gladio says

Could that dream be what is going to happen?

I shake my head as I turn around and head back towards Ardyn as he is standing around, studying the people around the town.

"Genevieve has the Ring of Lucii," I say

"Now that might be changing our plans after all," Ardyn says as he looks back towards Gladio and Gene
