"America." Japan greeted in a clipped tone, his voice a bit edgy.
"So, um, is it really true?"America asked, rubbing the back of neck nervously.
Pause.
"Yes."
"But why?" America protested, getting more and more desperate with each second.
"We are terribly sorry, but our decision has been made and there is no turning back."
"How long?" America asked through gritted teeth.
"Pardon?"
"How long have you planned this?"
Another pause.
"A few decades ago," Japan finally replied.
"C-Can I speak to Phili....?" America stammered a bit.
"Why?"
America could hear the slight accusation in the Orient nation's voice. "Just please," America's voice broke in the end as he tried to hold himself together again.
There was some mumbling in the other end but a melodic, feminine voice was the one that greeted him.
"What do you want, America?" Philippines asked with a cold voice, slightly wavering. America flinched, immediately noting that she was now formal with him. She always had called him Alfred or Al but never America.
America took another deep breath then said one single word with such sadness and hurt that made Philippines want to break down the walls.
"Why?"
Philippines licked her lips nervously and glanced at her fellow SEA countries, Indonesia nodding at her to calm down and continue and Malaysia avoiding her eyes and pretending not to listen as she chatted with Singapore. Gathering courage, she took a deep breath ad said in a steady voice.
"We've had enough, America," she said in a clipped tone.
"We have noticed that Asia was in chaos because of the West's, your, meddling. You thought you were helping but you're not, you're only making it worse. After much investigation, we discovered that you were one of the main causes of those......disagreements. Trust me America, it's better this way," she explained, sounding nonchalant as she stared blankly at the wall in front of her and ignoring the rest of the nations that are in the room with her.
Some shot her sympathetic looks while others gave her curt nods.
"Goodbye, America," she said before hanging up, not giving him a chance to speak and before the tears could fall.
