Okay, so after five minutes we are at my house," Valencia said to her companion Cayden, as they continued walking. Cayden had a frown on his face and Valencia noticed it.

"What's wrong?" she asked, wondering about the source of his worry.

"There's smoke over there," said Cayden, pointing ahead. "Can you see it?"

And sure enough, Valencia saw it and horror struck her as a horrid thought came rushing into her mind.

"That could be my house!" She exclaimed.

Valencia broke into a sprint and Cayden followed suit. In less than two minutes, they were standing in the midst of absolute chaos.

A crowd had gathered around Valencia's burning house and police cars had already arrived at the scene.

Her blood ran cold. She could feel her heart in her throat. She found it hard to breathe and didn't know whether it was the smoke, the heat or just the burst of emotions coursing through her.

She ran towards the police, tears threatening to escape her eyes as horrible thoughts consumed her.

"Hey. Can you tell me where the family of this house is? Did you get them out?" asked Valencia, urgency and fear obvious in her voice.

The policeman looked at her and spoke in such a bored tone that if Valencia hadn't been panicking, she would've have been extremely mad at how inconsiderate he sounded. "Yes, they have been taken to the hospital."

"Were they all....alive? Did you collect all three of them?"

"Barely so. But yes, all three were taken to the hospital."

She found some relief in those words but then asked for a ride to the hospital. The policeman ignored her as another one of them came up and started talking about faulty wiring.

"Listen! I live in this house okay?! I need to see my parents and my brother! I need to see them! You don't understand! I can help them!"

But they refused to listen to her or give her a ride. It was as if they couldn't see or hear her anymore. She felt anger pulse through her and almost punched the man just to get his attention but Cayden called out her name and snapped her out out of it.

Cayden came and pulled her away from them. She had forgotten about him.
"Hey, look, I can take you to the hospital. Alright?" His voice and words calmed her considerably and she felt like she could breathe again.

Valencia agreed and let Cayden drag her into a dark alley. She found herself impatient, confused and filled with fear. Fear of losing the people she loved the most in this world. The source of her happiness. Her comfort. Her support in this world.

She watched as Cayden pulled out keys, they looked a lot different from what she was used to seeing. He pressed a button.

Valencia screamed as a car appeared in front of them out of nowhere.

"Shh! Remember my warlock friend? This was his gift to me on my sixteenth birthday. Come on. Hop in!"

Soon they were at the hospital. Valencia rushed to the intensive care unit. She asked about the whereabouts of her dear family. A nurse came up behind them and quietly guided them into a room where her brother was.

Her brother looked devastated. Valencia rushed to him and he broke down into tears.
Through the sobbing and tears he informed her that their parents had not survived.
