Valencia made her way to Conrad's house and knocked softly on the door. He had given her a key but she had forgotten to pick it up before she left. Valencia's mind was still buzzing with everything that had happened that night. She had lived a pretty awesome life where she was the strongest of all witches. She had defeated what was any other storybook villain and had died sacrificing herself for her friend. That truly was an idealistic life. Or at least it was, to Valencia. She balanced the books in her hands as she made her way into the house. The door had opened by itself and for a split second it scared Valencia before she remembered that now she lived in a world where magic was actually real and these things happened a lot.
She walked in and saw Conrad sitting on the floor surrounded by many books. She set her pile down and sat beside him. "What are you looking for? Can I help?"
Conrad shook his head, chewing on his bottom lip as he closed his eyes and murmured a few words. Valencia just stared waiting for him to explain what he had just done. He turned to her a smile on his face, "I'm just doing a favor for a friend of mine. He needed something. Where did you go? And did you buy books?"
"No I didn't buy them. Um...Warren gave them to me." Warren had asked her if she wanted her diaries and spell books she had kept in her previous life and she had instantly agreed.
"Warren? He spoke to you? What did he tell you?" The urgency in Conrad's voice worried Valencia.
"That I lived a life prior to this one? And also that I was freaking awesome and strong!" Valencia exclaimed still not over the fact that she could read minds and control them too. All that while having magic! It was like a dream.
"Oh God. That boy is impatient. I asked him to not tell you until you could be a little ready for all if this. I'm sure you're feeling very overwhelmed right now."
Valencia nodded. "Warren said we were all friends back then too. That's nice to know. Overwhelmed? A little. But I kind of like knowing I was the strongest witch. Makes me think I can still be that."
Conrad smiled. "You are. Did Warren tell you that you also have the rarest magic?"
Valencia shook her head, "No. What does that mean? The mind control thing?"
"Yes and no. You see I have red colored magic? Almost orange honestly. But I like to call it red." He said as he raised one of his hands and held up a red ball of magic. It was mesmerising to look at, almost like you were staring at a ball of glitter but better. Somehow. Valencia nodded.
"And you might have seen that Warren has blue magic? And you have purple. All these colors represent elements. For example, me with my red magic, I'm strongest when I'm around fire. Surround me with bonfires, candles and what not and I might just be able to battle you when you are fully trained. Warren is strongest around water bodies. People with green magic are strongest when they are around nature. They are also known to be the closest to Earth. A little rare is to have white magic. It's considered the purest magic as it's source of power is just air. It derives energy from the air surrounding it and is known to do no harm to anyone. What you have, purple magic, it's still a legend to some people. A warlock was known to have it a very long time ago. He displayed all the powers you do." Conrad finished a proud smile on his face.
"Wow. Okay. What about my source?"
"Your source?"
"Yours is fire, Warren's is water, what's mine?
"Um, I think it's everything. Your magic itself is too strong to need a source for you to be stronger. The abilities you have, like mind control and reading minds, forming emotional bonds, all these aren't something a normal witch or warlock has. So you're special."
Valencia just nodded, intrigued by all of this information. She didn't know why she had this magic or how she could even use it properly. All she knew was she was supposed to have all those abilities and she still hadn't mastered them yet. This information also sparked in Valencia the urge to train harder than ever before.
"Hey, I know all of this too much for now. How about this, we go to your house tomorrow, collect what's left of it and even go shopping. If you want. Then we'll plan out what all you need to learn and then start training from the day after tomorrow."
Valencia nodded enthused at the idea. She then turned to the books Warren had given her and picked up the first diary she had ever written, not that she remembered it and then walked to her room.
The entire night Valencia flipped through the thick pages of the diary and found out about her loving mother, the one who had been there through all of her struggles with having a huge amount of magic at her disposal. The part of the diary describing the pain she had once felt when her mind reading powers had been tapped into scared Valencia. She didn't know if she was ready for that. Besides that all the diary told her was that she and Warren had been the best of friends since they were children and he had introduced her to a lot of things. Art was one of them. After that the pages were filled with various ideas for artworks and their poor execution. Satomi had become Valencia's friend because of Warren and they too had become very close. Valencia wondered what she was doing now and if Satomi wanted to speak to her like Warren did. Soon Valencia fell asleep. For the first time in what felt like a long time, she had a peaceful, dream free sleep.
She woke up early the next morning and realised how hungry she was. After debating on getting out of bed for a good while, she finally did and made her way to the kitchen. She made some coffee and thought of making waffles. Her mother had made them wonderfully, every single time. And the last time Valencia had made waffles was with her so she didn't know if she could do it. She tried anyway and ended up with three almost burnt ones and two that weren't. She set up the table with the coffee and waffles and went to call Conrad. In all her time she had lived with him, he has always provided her the best of meals, most of which he had cooked. Some he magicked from restaurants close to them.
Soon they were talking and eating breakfast when Valencia noticed something move behind Conrad in the hall of the house. She leaned to her right to get a better look at whatever or whoever it was but saw nothing. Conrad asked her what had happened but she didn't reply. She shook her head and they got back to planning her training sessions. She'd train in the morning and evening with Conrad while in the afternoon she would learn how to physically fight with someone with Cayden. Conrad asked her to be in her disguise at all times to prevent being recognised and not to trust anyone other than Cayden and Warren besides himself.
Valencia made her way to the bookshelf to pick out the spell book Conrad had asked her to when she noticed something move in her peripheral vision. She looked around but saw nothing, once again. Annoyed she turned back to the shelf when this time she felt something touch her arm. She flinched and turned around and was met with a gust of cold wind. She blinked her eyes and shivered almost instantly as she tried to see what was messing with her. Then in a distance she saw a figure. Standing at the door of her room. The figure was translucent and white. Valencia gasped as she recognised the figure to be that of her mother. She walked towards her, almost as if she was in a trance. She snapped out of it when Conrad called her name and turned to answer him. Realising what had just happened she looked back at her room but saw nothing.

Haha, has Valencia finally lost it? Or is it all real and her mother is going to be a ghost standing by her? Well, I know the answer and you will too if you stick by this book and read the following chapters 😉
Anyway thanks for reading. I'm aware this chapter was shorter but I gotta do what I have to do to get a small mystery at the end of a chapter, what did you think of it? Let me know!
