Woo Jin stood in front of the goalie net, his legs spread wide. He twitched left; he twitched right. Each step a mirror of Ha Joon's as he ran down the field toward him. For as much as he secretly wanted Ha Joon to succeed in finally getting the ball past him, he would not slack off on his duties. He would put his full effort to keep Ha Joon from scoring. It wouldn't be fair to Ha Joon to let him succeed if he only gave him the success, instead of earning it.
Ha Joon's legs pumped hard as he moved the ball in front of him. Switching it around as if keeping it away from some invisible opposing team. His thigh muscles clenched as his legs pounded down the field. Woo Jin swallowed once, hard. He couldn't allow himself to be distracted. Not now. He put his arms out, ready to catch the ball. Ha Joon moved right. Woo Jin moved left. Ha Joon's feet did a quick little shuffle and kicked the ball far to Woo Jin's right, sailing easily into the net.
They both stared at the ball as it rolled to a stop. Woo Jin dropped his arms as he looked at Ha Joon.
"Ha Joon, you did it."
"I did." Ha Joon's voice wavered as he looked up at Woo Jin, his eyes wide.
"Ha Joon, you really did it." Woo Jin ran out from the goal post.
"Wait." Ha Joon put up his hands.
Woo Jin made it within three feet of Ha Joon before his untied shoelace wrapped itself in a quick noose around his other foot. One second he was upright, next second he had pinned Ha Joon to the ground.
"Oh, Ha Joon, I'm so sorry."
Ha Joon sighed. "Don't be. I'm getting use to it. If you haven't tripped me at least once per day, or tackled me once a week, I worry."
"Really, Ha Joon, I am sorry. I don't mean to do it."
"I know. I didn't the first time, but now I know you can't help it."
"Thanks, Ha Joon."
"I mean this time even my glasses stayed on. However-"
"Yes?"
"I would appreciate if you got off of me now."
Woo Jin glanced down at Ha Joon's smooshed body beneath him.
"Ah, crap. Right." Woo Jin scrambled off of Ha Joon. No matter what feelings he had for Ha Joon, taking advantage of him during one of his accidents was never in his plans.
Woo Jin held out his hand to help him to his feet. Ha Joon wrapped his hand around his wrist. Woo Jin planted his feet and allowed Ha Joon to use him as a brace to pull himself up. It was a routine he was getting used to. Ha Joon holding his hand and pulling himself into his arms. If only for a moment he could live in a fantasy of Ha Joon in his embrace.
Nearly three months had gone by since Ha Joon had transferred. In that time Woo Jin had watched him grow from the timid boy afraid of his own shadow to what stood before him now. A stronger, confident man. It didn't hurt that all their exercise was slowly working off the remaining childhood baby fat from Ha Joon's body. Not that Woo Jin didn't like Ha Joon's previous lovable body, but now he had an extra layer of sexy that made Woo Jin drool a little more. Though it had its downsides too, as more girls started to take notice of Ha Joon's new look. Even if Ha Joon didn't notice. Only Woo Jin caught their sneaking glances and heard their whispered comments. He couldn't stop the pangs in his heart knowing soon he would have to fight for Ha Joon's attention.
Beyond their days of playing football, Ha Joon has become a regular at his home. After his first visit, Woo Jin had demanded Ha Joon's return as soon as possible. As expected, Ha Joon had rejected the invitation at first. Insisting he would be a bother, in the way, and five other excuses the Woo Jin shot down. In the end, Ha Joon relented. Woo Jin was surprised to see a flicker of joy in his eyes at being forced into agreement.
