Time passed slowly at school as it always does. Long boring lectures, too much homework and countless tests. But Woo Jin didn't mind. He had his best friend, his boyfriend, by his side.
Since the day both confessed to each other, they had become a couple. Though the first month they only saw each other in class as Ha Joon had been grounded for defying his mother.
It took awhile for Ha Joon's parents to agree to their friendship again. But as Ha Joon's grades improved the moment they were back together, they could no longer deny the benefits of their friendship.
While they had started officially dating after Ha Joon kissed him, they agreed to keep things slow. Between Ha Joon's confusion about his sexuality and the nature of their friendship, neither wanted to rush into anything. That isn't to say a few make-out sessions didn't happen as they explored what their new relationship meant.
The first person Woo Jin told about their relationship was his cousin. He took Ha Joon to meet him soon after their first kiss. Second was his brother, Woo Sung. It took him all of five minutes to warm up to Ha Joon and treat him as a second brother.
They told Eun Yi next. She had been hurt that Woo Jin had kept his secret from her for so long but forgave him instantly. Little changed in their relationship. She still called Woo Jin sweetie and Ha Joon cute butt. Only now she made sure to never stand between them whenever the three of them were together.
Woo Jin's parents and Jun Keum were last. Ha Joon had no interest in telling his own parents. Woo Jin's parents were worried at first. Concerned if it was just a phase. But between Woo Sung's gentle urging and their already thinking of Ha Joon as part of the family, they soon accepted. With their acceptance came new rules.
No more same room sleep overs and studying behind closed doors. However, when his parents were out of town, which was often, Jun Keum allowed them to break the rules, as long as they promised to, mostly, behave.

Finally, their high school years ended. Ha Joon with all the extra exercising Woo Jin put him through with their football practice lost all his baby fat and gained muscles where he'd never thought possible. His confidence grew every day until the scared Ha Joon who had transferred to their school was a distant memory.
A few months after they had reconciled Ha Joon acquired his first love letter along with numerous other confessions after that. The first time Woo Jin had been worried for a minute. But ultimately knew their hearts belonged to each other.
With Ha Joon's help, Woo Jin finished with top grades. They applied to the same college and were accepted right away. Woo Jin planned on studying business while Ha Joon choose medical research. While Ha Joon still enjoyed drawing, he decided for now it would only be a hobby and not his life's pursuits.

Woo Jin snuggled into Ha Joon's side. They had spent most of the day with Woo Jin's family for their graduation celebration. Ha Joon's parents gave him a faint congratulations and a warning that he better do as well in college. With Woo Jin's family, they ate out at a fancy restaurant to celebrate the two and their success. It wasn't until evening turned to early morning they allowed time to themselves.
They lay on Woo Jin's bed as they had done countless times before. Ha Joon's arm out while Woo Jin wrapped around Ha Joon's firm chest. Ha Joon leaned down and kissed the top of Woo Jin's head. Woo Jin looked up, hitting his head against Ha Joon's chin.
"Sorry."
Ha Joon rubbed his jaw. "I'm used to it."
"Are you ready, Ha Joon?"
"For?"
"College. Everything will be different there. We won't be in the same class anymore. We will be making new friends. We won't get to see each other as often."
Ha Joon tightened his hold on Woo Jin's body.
"They say absence makes the heart grow fonder."
"I don't like that saying. Maybe we should move in together."
"I thought I was the one with the wild imagination."
"You don't think it's a good idea?"
"I think it's a great idea, that neither of our parents would approve of."
Woo Jin pouted. "But you'll think about it."
"I promise." Woo Jin lay his head back down on Ha Joon's chest. Ha Joon stroked the fine strands of his hair. They both yawned as the long events of the day caught up with them.
"I love you, Woo Jin."
Woo Jin snuggled deeper into his embrace. "I love you too, Ha Joon."
They both fell asleep wrapped in each other's embrace. On the last day of their high school romance.
