The Light in the Dark

Chapter 2:

Over the course of the next few weeks on the ship it was, talk, cry, cuddle, sleep, repeat. It turned into their normal routine. But one night Loki noticed that Val seemed to be in more destress than usual. She almost seemed to be whimpering.

"Val...?" Loki quietly said while stroking her hair, trying to calm her.

"I'm sorry... I-I it is just s-so hard." Val sobbed

"What is? Is this about your Valkyrie sisters? Love, there was nothing you could have done, Hela was a wicked women with terrible intentions but she is gone now. You don't have to be scared anymore." Loki rambled.

"No! No, do not call me love! We are not in love! I am sorry your highness, I-I just can't do this anymore!" Val breathed, as she slipped out of Loki's embrace.

Then as quickly as she could, she put her armor back on and ran out the door. But Loki was quick to follow. He ran after her and took ahold of her hand.

"Val? What is going-" But he stopped mid-sentence as Val whipped her self around to revleile tears on sadness and pain. A mixture that Loki had never seen from her, it shattered his heart.

"Don't you get it?! I can't, I cannot lose you! We both know that he is coming for you and he will be here soon! I just I cannot live with that! I am so sorry your highness but this has to end before I get too attached." Then Val ran
down the corridor leaving Loki alone.

Loki felt tears in his eyes but he quickly whipped them away as he heard footsteps approaching. He slowly turned to see Thor staring at with concern written all over his face.

"...I heard yelling... brother? What is going on?" Thor asked

Loki broke eye contact and tried to push past Thor to get back to his room. But Thor was quick to grab his arm.

"Loki, I know that you and Val have something special. You both make one another happy, so what has gotten into you two?" Thor presses.

"Sorry brother I cannot tell you, I just need to go rest for now." Loki choked out holding back his tears, while pulling his arm from Thor's grip.

Thor let him go and watched Loki stubble back to his room. As soon as Loki closed the door, he sank against the door and hugged his knees tight to his chest. He cried the rest of the night letting the darkness around him close in.
