The Light in the Dark

Chapter 5:

Loki entered the "throne room", though Loki would hardly call it that, to come face to face with Thanos himself. Thanos was standing in the center of the room, holding a beat up Thor down on his knees, on the ground. Loki adamatoctly noticed that Thor was breathing rather heavily and blood was spilling from his mouth. The room was huge, and spread all over it where the bodies of his people. Thanos was standing in the center of the room, facing away from Loki. Thor was laying on the ground with blood in his mouth. Hemidall was laying slightly upright on the floor, groaning in pain. Loki slowly approached Thanos, stopping about ten feet away, as the children of Thanos circled him. One of them was ranting on and on about Thanos and how the dead bodies should be glad that they died at the hands of the children of Thanos. But Loki hardly even noticed, he had turned all his attention to is slowly dying brother.

"Oh gods" Loki thought. "What have they done to you brother?"

But Loki had to turn his attention away from his brother, because Thanos was now turning around to meet Loki's eyes.

"I know what it's like to lose" Thanos explained."It feels so desperately that you are right, yet to fail nonetheless."

Then Thanos lifted Thor by the neck of his armour and started to walk towards Loki, dragging Thor with him. Thor was making these awful choking noises, struggling to get out of Thanos's grasp. But to no avail.

"It frightening... turns the legs to jelly." Thanos said in a dangerously low voice.

"I ask you, to what end? Dread it? Run from it? Destiney arrives all the same... and now it's here. Or should I say... I am." Thanos said stopping just feet from Loki. Then he lifted his hand into a fist, to show his Infinity Gauntlet, which already had the Power Stone gleaming inside it.

Then Thor lifted his head that had Thanos's other hand still resting on it and gasped out at Loki, with blood dripping from his lips, "You talk too much."

Loki glanced at his brother for just a moment, trying not to show any weakness to Thanos.

"The Tesseract," Thanos growled, Loki quickly glanced back up to look Thanos in the eyes. "Or your brother's head." Thanos explained while moving his Gauntlet covered hand closer to Thor's head, while turning the finger that had the Power Stone, even closer.

The children of Thanos smiled slyly and lifted their weapons.

"I assume you have a preference?" Thanos said with an evil smile of his own.

Loki thought fast. Maybe if Thanos is so desperate for The Tesseract he won't even kill Thor, it is possible that it is just a threat to scare me.

So with his own reluctant dark look on his face, Loki said with his mischief getting the best of him, "Oh I do... kill away."

Thanos was a bit surprised at first, but maintained his poster quickly and drove the Power Stone right into Thor's temple. Thor let out blood curdling screams as Loki tried to remain strong as his own surprise and fear consumed him. He did not think that Thanos would actually do it and he suddenly feared for his brothers life. Loki tried to smile like he was "enjoying the show" but he made eye contact with his screaming brother. His smile dropping as Thanos pressed the stone harder into Thor's head, causing him to cry out louder. The stone seemed to be consuming Thor in pain, in a way that Loki had never seen his brother before. Loki's breathing became harder as he felt his chest tightening, he was panicking, trying to swallow down the lump in his throat. Thanos pressed the stone even harder into Thor's head, and Loki started to feel dizzy with fear and his breathing got even faster. He started shaking and Thanos smiled.

"ALL RIGHT STOP!" Loki yelled, looking back at Thanos.

Thanos finally released the stone from Thor's head and Loki let out a sigh of relief, thanking the gods that Thor made it through that torture.
