Some lady was standing in OUR kitchen. At first, I thought this was some thief but then I realized that thieves don't grin at you.
I studied the woman. She was pretty and she looked like a thirty-something. She was a petite lady with delicate features, short blonde hair pixie hair and leaf-green eyes that sparkled with humor. She wore flannel, denim and Doc Martens.
Something tugged at the bottom of my brain.
"Do you recognize me, Annabeth", she asked.
"I am sorry but I don't know who you are", I said.
She nodded like she knew what I was talking about. After a pause, she said "Hello Annabeth. I am Natalie Chase, your aunt".
I gasped. Raw memories from when I was six years old flooded my mind.
Aunt Natalie then where is...
"Where is Magnus?"I asked.
"He's at soccer practice," Natalie said.
"Okay. But by the way where is dad and Helen and Bobby and Matthew."
"Your dad got a phone call that said he is needed in Atalanta and he didn't wanna go alone so he got Helen and the kids and went there. He didn't want you to tag along so he asked me to take care of you. He won't be back for six months." she said.
Six months?Without Helen? This would have been the best day in the entire existence of Annabeth Bailey Chase if not for the whole Percy-Drew drama.
Natalie must have noticed my expression. She asked, "Are you okay kiddo?"
I replied with the most basic lie"I'm fine"
She decided not to prowl. I liked that about her. I went to my room and started on my Math and Science homework. After finishing them in the half-hour I went to get my iPod and pressed the play button for the song You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift.aughingly
Then I went on a marathon of the saddest Taylor Swift songs which somehow made me feel better.
After throwing myself a pity party I got a FaceTime from Rach.
"How you doin'?", she asked in Joey's voice. But she kinda messed it up so it came out like a frog's croak.
"You need to work on it," I said laughingly.
She stuck out her tongue at me.
"So, how are you dealing with the Percy problem?" she asked.
"Just threw me a huge pity party", I replied nonchalantly as if it didn't matter.
"Anyway, Piper just invited us on a shopping spree this weekend. Piper demands to see you there. She said and I quote"Annabeth dresses like a raccoon."
I agreed immediately.Just then I haerd the doorbell ring and Natalie"s voice greeted,"Magnus,come.Wash and come for dinner.
"I got to go.Natalie is calling for dinnner."
"Wait I need to tell you..."
I hurried downstairs for dinner.
