Time had escaped the two best friends much faster than either girl appreciated. Truth be told YingYue had the older girls departure date circled on the calendar in her room in a harsh red colour. If she had learn anything from the classic lessons it was that red was the colour of danger. The association of it to any event was not a good one. Just take a look at Curly's wife.
But here she was laying in her bed on that faithful morning. Her alarm clock having blared the harsh sound only moments prior and when her eyes casted themselves to the date a painful sigh left her mouth. She didn't know what to do, she had only just got the girl she viewed as an older sister back and here she was again about to lose her.
The two girls had spent as much time together as possible whether it be the simple act of lazing around in their most comfortable clothes and watching reruns of the bachelor or dressing up and going to art museums, which was the older girls favourite thing to do, the pair spent their time making memories they could look back on during the drought of physical interaction.
Slugging her way out of bed, an outfit was pre-laid out on the chair in her room. Staring at the white and black checked trouser and matching blazer combination she pulled it on along with a plain black t-shirt. Pulling on a pair of white trainers and doing a very simple makeup look she dragged her way down the stairs and into the kitchen.
Sitting at the breakfast bar YingYue gave a sheepish but thankful smile to Auntie X who passed the poor girl a cup of coffee. She sipped slowly on the beverage and slowly began to get lost in her own thoughts. Automatically playing with the necklace around her neck she began to pay less attention to her surroundings.
CLANK
The loud noise of a key unlocking the front door snapped her back to the room as she turned her head to see who had entered. She came eye to eye with the love of her life who was way too alert for that early in the morning.
"Hey love, ready to go?" Ximen spoke a pep to his voice as he gave her a quick scan.
With a little laugh YingYue brought herself up off the chair grabbing her bag along with her house keys and headed in his direction. Upon approaching she gave him a light whack on the shoulder.
"Just because you have a house key now doesn't mean you can use it whenever you like. You scared the daylights out of me." She huffed before she was pulled into Ximen's side the boys arm wrapping around her.
"Where's the fun in that huh? It would be boring if I had the key and never used it."
The pair soon left her house and walked towards the car awaiting outside. Ximen walked YingYue to the passengers side before opening the door and allowing YingYue to slide in. He closed the door behind her before going around to the driver's side.
The beginning of the drive was silent with only the sound of the radio humming quietly in the background. YingYue found herself staring out of the window at the passing scenery, the bustling streets and the greens they passed seemed like nothing much to console her aching heart. It never got any easier each time she sent her best friend trotting around the globe. However, it wasn't the first and she was sure it was not going to be the last time she said goodbye to the girl in an airport.
For a while she felt almost numb to anything that was going on. That was until she felt a grip on her left hand. She turned her body, as much as she could in the chair, to face Ximen who's eyes were focused on the road. It was in this moment she got a chance to properly look at him. The cuffs of his shirt stuck out from under the sleeves of his coat. How his gaze was so focused on what he was doing but how comfortable he looked in that moment. She allowed her eyes to cast down onto their joint hands and felt the calmness that overtook her from the smallest amount of contact between them.
"I love you"
She found herself saying without much of a thought. And it surprised her just how much those words were true. She did not have to think heavily about them she just knew. There was no need to hide these feelings either. She didn't want to hide them. This masterpiece, this amazing man just needed to know how she truly felt and she was not shared to do so.
"I love you more princess."
An easy conversation broke out after that the silence from earlier almost completely gone.
Soon enough the airport appeared in the pairs vision. The car was parked and Ximen rushed around to open YingYue's door.
"Thank you kind sir" She spoke taking his hand to help her out. Neither of the pair moved to let go of the others hand. Rather YingYue was confident enough to slot her fingers through his as they went on a search for the rest of their friends.
It had taken no more than 10 minutes for the couple to catch sight of their friends. They weren't overly hard to spot seeming that you could hear Meizuo and AhSi joke around from afar. The two men pushing each other in a joking fashion. However, one thing YingYue was not expecting to see was the third figure in the group. Stood alongside the two men was no other than Shancai. YingYue didn't think the young girl was a big fan of Jing. Well that's what her behaviour had pointed to as of recent, Jing seemed to be more like someone who was in the way for Shancai as of recent. Probably because they both had a crush on the same person.
Thank the heavens she didn't have to deal with that herself.
Irregardless to that fact she pulled the young girl into her embrace feeling like the two would probably be growing closer in the foreseeable future. Greeting both of the boys the now group of five only waited on Jing to come over after finishing checking in.
"JING" The group called out as soon as the girl was insight. Their voices mashing to sound almost like a group of fangirls at a concert. This caused the oldest girl to break out into a large smile taking into account her group of ragtag friends. Her face fell at the lack of the one person she hoped to share one last moment with before she hid that emotion away. It was time to focus on those who had made it, not those who had not.
Jing started off with the 'newest' addition of the group before working through the boys and finally standing in front of the younger sister she had always wanted.
"You take it easy, leave that university with the best grades possible and start your life off in the most YeYe way possible. Keep our boys in line you're their only hope." Jing stated as watching as tears welled up in YingYue's eyes sure her's were doing the same.
"You go and make a difference in the world. This is your calling Jing and you are going to smash it. I'm forever going to be proud of you. You're the best sister I never had. I love you." Came YingYue's tearful response. As the two held onto each other as if they weren't going to see each other again.
"I better get an invite to your wedding missus." Was the last thing Jing spoke as her flight was called. And she reluctantly left still not seeing the one person who was missing from their group.
YingYue was very quickly pulled into an all too familiar chest as her arms wrapped around his midsection and his tightened around her waist.
"It's okay baby, let it all out. Let it all out, I've got you." Whispered Ximen feeling himself get upset purely at the fact that YingYue was upset.
She felt herself calming slowly the longer she was in his embrace. To the point where she almost missed the sudden appearance of Lei. Turning herself so she as no longer pressed against Ximen's waist but remained still in his arms she looked the taller man in his eyes and put on the strictest look she could manage.
"Go and give her the love she deserves Lei, you cheeky little-" She was cut off when said boy gave her a smile and kissed her forehead before walking off in the same direction Jing had headed only moments beforehand.
The gang of five walked their way to the carpark having broken back into an easy and light conversation. YingYue couldn't help but laugh at how love stuck AhSi was at this moment. As he looked dreamily at Shancai. They soon split and headed on their individual ways home.
